Blake Shinn fails to have penalty reduced
Blake Shinn’s bid to ride at the new season’s first feature meeting has failed with the jockey unsuccessful in having a careless riding penalty reduced.
Shinn was outed at Rosehill last Saturday for careless riding on Invincible Knight who finished second to Pelethronius in a 1500m-handicap.
The Racing NSW Appeal Panel on Friday agreed with stewards the seven-meeting suspension was warranted and Shinn will return on August 6, the day after the Group Two Missile Stakes meeting.
The jockey has recently returned from a successful stint in the United Stakes where he rode 11 winners in five weeks at Chicago’s Arlington Park.
