Sydney Sixers v Brisbane Heat cricket preview
The Big Bash League season continues on Wednesday night as the Sydney Sixers host the Brisbane Heat in Coffs Harbour as the first match of a double header. Here is our preview and free tips for the match:
Scheduled to play each other on Monday night up at the Gabba, the sides split the points after the clash was called off due to rain. This result now means that this will be a top of the table clash as the Heat sit in first, two points clear of the second-placed Sixers. As a result of poor weather, the Sixers have had their past two matches abandoned and will welcome the clear conditions expected on Wednesday night.
The Sydney Sixers have enjoyed another promising start to the Big Bash season with just one loss from their six matches. The runs have been shared throughout the batting line-up so far, with four of their top five batsmen scoring over 85 runs. Jackson Bird and Jack Edwards have been excellent with the ball so far this tournament, taking eight and seven wickets respectively. English all-rounder Tom Curran is expected to return after he has served his four-match suspension.
Sitting undefeated in first place, the Brisbane Heat are having their best ever start to a Big Bash season. Opener Colin Munro has been excellent at the top of the order averaging 52 at a strike rate of 159. Pace bowler Xavier Bartlett is having a breakout tournament as the competitions second-leading wicket taker with nine, whilst English all-rounder Paul Walter has become a cult hero after starring with bat and ball.
Sixers v Heat BBL top tips & odds
Brisbane Heat to win
Sean Abbott 2+ wickets
Nathan McSweeney 20+ Runs
Sydney Sixers vs Brisbane Heat betting predictions
After winning 11 of their last 13 BBL matches, the Brisbane Heat are clearly one of the form sides of the competition. They have also beaten the Sixers in their last two meetings, including when they knocked them out in last season’s Challenger final. With the nature of T20 cricket and the quality of the two sides, look for key individual performances to decide this match. With this match being held at a neutral venue, we think the Heat have the edge here at -111.11 with Bet365.
The top wicket taker in BBL history, Sixers bowler Sean Abbott will be a key player in this clash. With an excellent record against the Heat, Abbott will be looking to get the job done once again as he takes the critical power surge and death overs. He has had an expensive start to BBL 13, but he is still taking wickets, so we think he shows great value to take 2+ wickets at +130 with top cricket bookmakers.
Promoted to number three this season, Heat batsman Nathan McSweeney has had a solid start to the season averaging 37. Headlined by a match-winning 73 against the Thunder, McSweeney takes the role of anchoring the innings in the case of early wickets. With hitters all around him, McSweeney can spend time at the crease and shows great value to score 20+ runs at -125 with top Aussie betting sites.
