Best bets & multi tips for A-League Round 20
THERE was one significant move to come out of last week’s A-League action.
Melbourne Victory’s 2-0 defeat in Newcastle opened the door for Adelaide United to skip into the top four.
The Reds grasped the opportunity with both hands, downing Perth Glory to go two points clear of the Victory.
However, that won’t mean much in the race for the A-League Premiership.
Sydney FC remain nine points clear at the top and all but unbackable at -20000 odds with Sportsbet.com.au.
They are also -138.89 favourites to win the A-League Grand Final for the second year running.
Graham Arnold’s men have a chance to put even more space between themselves and the chasing pack this Saturday as they take on third-placed Melbourne City.
That is one of only three fixtures on the cards this week as we take a look at the best bets for round 19.
A-League Multi of the Week
- Victory to beat Roar – -138.89
- Sydney to beat City – +100
- Wanderers to beat Phoenix – +100
We struck gold last week with a three-legger that returned +428 to the dollar.
Can we do it again?
This week’s sweet and simple A-League multi is paying +588 at Sportsbet, where new customers can pocket up to $501 in bonus bets upon joining.
Melbourne Victory vs. Brisbane Roar
Friday, February 9 – 7:50pm AEDT – AAMI Park, Melbourne
The Victory were done by a classy Jets side last time out, while only a poor penalty from Massimo Maccarone prevented Brisbane from halving the points with Melbourne City. Another loss for the Roar would leave them at least six points adrift of the final six, and we think that’s the way the wind is blowing.
Melbourne City vs. Sydney FC
Saturday, February 10 – 7:50pm AEDT – AAMI Park, Melbourne
Sydney have already beaten City home and away this season, the last of those a comprehensive 3-1 result at the Allianz in December. The younger of the Melbourne clubs could have a big inclusion this week with Bruno Fornaroli fit again after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, but the defending champs should be too good again.
Western Sydney Wanderers vs. Wellington Phoenix
Sunday, February 11 – 7pm AEDT – ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Wanderers took a big step towards finals with their 2-1 win over Central Coast Mariners last week. There was more pain for the Phoenix, who look destined for the wooden spoon after losing 4-0 to Sydney. Expect another important win for WSW as they look to make up ground on the top five.
