Ben Connolly to front RAD Board

Suspended trainer Ciaron Maher’s former racing manager will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board for a hearing on penalty over the ownership bona fides of horses in the stable.

Ben Connolly has advised through his legal representatives he will be pleading guilty to two charges laid by Racing Victoria stewards.

RV stewards allege Connolly engaged in dishonest, improper and, or, dishonourable action or practice in connection with racing and also that he misrepresented and provided misleading and, or, inaccurate information through representations to the stewards regarding the ownership of Azkadellia, Little Bubulu, Loveable Rogue, Hart and Mr Simples.

Maher was last month suspended for six months and fined $75,000 after conceding he should have known those five horses were actually owned by convicted con man Peter Foster.

Jockey Glen Boss has lodged an appeal with the RAD Board against a 10 meeting suspension incurred at Caulfield on Saturday.

Singapore-based Boss was suspended after riding Riven Light in the Caulfield Stakes.

His appeal will be heard on Wednesday.
