Hobart Hurricanes vs Sydney Thunder match preview
Two sides in good form face off this Friday night as the Hobart Hurricanes host the Sydney Thunder for Match 29 of the 2024-25 BBL season.
The two teams were supposed to face off on Wednesday, but due to rain, the match was abandoned without a ball bowled, as they split the points.
The Hurricanes have been one of the most in-form teams in the Big Bash League this season, winning their last four games. Included in those results were wins against the Scorchers and Sixers at home, two sides who were expected to contend for the title by top cricket bookmakers.
Batting is a major strength for the Canes, who have an excellent mix of composure, creativity and power-hitting throughout their lineup that favours the short square boundaries down at Bellerive.
At -125 with major online bookmakers, Hobart are favourites for this clash.
The Thunder have also been in great form, as they sit second on the ladder despite dealing with plenty of injuries. With up to six players unavailable, the Sydney side have had to turn to assistant coach Dan Christian, while plenty of young players are getting an opportunity.
Prior to their loss to the Heat on Monday night, the Thunder had won their previous three games, including a blockbuster result over the Scorchers in Perth.
In positive news, the Thunder are set to regain youngster Sam Konstas at the top of the order, while leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha is a potential return from a side strain.

Hurricanes vs Thunder betting predictions
The Canes, who have excelled at home so far in this tournament, will be challenging to defeat in this match. They are one of the few sides that are at full strength right now and they have consistently set big totals with the bat. As favourites, take Hobart to continue their winning streak.
A key part of the Hurricanes’ recent success has been the steady form of batsman Ben McDermott. The wicket keeper averages 40 in his last three knocks, playing the anchor role as others hit around him. One of the more experienced players in the Hurricanes side, back McDermott to continue his good form with 30 or more runs at +125 with top BBL betting apps.
Leading from the front, Thunder captain David Warner has been excellent, scoring the third-most runs in the Big Bash this season. His last three games have been particularly impressive, with scores of 86*, 49 and 50 leading the side each time. With many of the players around him known for hitting quick in short bursts, back Warner to spend time at the crease, leading the Thunder run scorers at +300 with BetOnline .
