Barrier to help Brinkmanship at Doomben

Smart Gold Coast two-year-old Brinkmanship has had the first piece of luck in his short career as he aims towards securing a $2 million Magic Millions Classic berth.

Brinkmanship will be having his third race start at Doomben on Saturday.

He is one of the few top chances to have drawn a good barrier and will start from gate five.

Brinkmanship won a trial impressively before his first start when he was wayward in the straight before finishing second.

He then contested another Gold Coast race when he was badly bumped on the home turn before finishing fourth.

Trainer Helen Page said Brinkmanship had taken no harm from his last run.

“I thought while he was fit I might as well chase some prize money for the Magic Millions Classic.” Page said.

“He has finally had some luck with the barrier which means he should be on the pace which is an advantage in these races.”

A win would lift Brinkmanship’s prize money to $59,000 which would assure him of a place in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic on January 13.
