Awesome Rock has made up for losing the Australian Cup on protest with a tenacious win in the $2 million Emirates Stakes at Flemington.

Sent out an $18 chance in the weight-for-age race, Awesome Rock ran to the front at the 300m and then staved off the placegetters for the fourth and most important win in a 25-start career.
