Aussie artists in the mix at 2017 Billboard Music Awards

Flume wins Best Dance Album at 2016 Grammy Awards
AUSTRALIAN artists will feature in a number of categories at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, the nominations for which were released this week.

Country superstar Keith Urban and enigmatic pop queen Sia each received three nods, while Hottest 100 conquerer Flume was also recognised.

And let’s not forget Sydney’s own Hillsong Worship – a +600 chance for Top Christian Artist.

Online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au rates the Top Country Album gong as Urban’s best bet.

The Queenslander’s hit release, Ripcord, is paying +300 behind Florida Georgia Line’s runaway -277.78 favourite, Dig Your Roots.

Sia’s work with Sean Paul on the track ‘Cheap Thrills’ is an outside chance for both Top Radio Song (+1400) and Top Collaboration (+1700).

She is also a +3300 long shot for Top Female Artist, where Beyonce is expected to clean up at -138.89.

But Australia’s best hope by far is Flume, with Skin rated a strong +125 challenger to The Chainsmokers’ Collage (-153.85) in the Top Dance/Electronic Album stakes.

“Sia and Keith Urban may have three nominations each, but the markets suggest Flume is Australia’s best chance of success this time round,” said Sportsbet’s Christian Jantzen.

The BMAs will be held on May 21, 2017 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
