Boom UFC heavyweight Tom Aspinall returns from injury this weekend to face Marcin Tybura at the O2 Arena in London as he looks to rekindle his title aspirations. The top UFC betting sites are predicting an easy return for Aspinall in front of a home crowd, but we are expecting a more competitive clash due to the underrated skills of Tybura.

Tom Aspinall (12-3-0) was a heavyweight on an unstoppable eight-fight winning run until his knee gave out 15 seconds into his 2022 fight against Curtis Blayde. The Brit has taken a year off to undergo rehab, regain his fitness, and prepare for a triumphant return to the ring. He claims to be in the best shape of his career for this comeback bout. The 30-year-old is a proven finisher who has never been taken into a third round and his longest UFC fight lasted a mere six minutes.
Aspinall is a devastating giant with knockout power and an excellent submission game. One of his career losses came via disqualification and he was submitted via an unfortunate heel hook way back in 2015, but prior to the knee injury, Aspinall dominated a long line of opponents including Alexander Volkov, Andrei Arlovski, and Sergey Spivak. He stands 6’5’’ but is light and agile on his feet, and if he can remain injury free, he appears a certain contender for the UFC heavyweight title.
Marcin Tybura (24-7-0) is 7-1 at UFC level since 2020 with notable wins over the aforementioned Spivak, Walt Harris, and Greg Harris. The sole loss was a close decision result against Volkov, and the Polish native might be underestimated going into this clash.
Tybura has nine wins via knockout on his record and six via submission and will have no fear grappling with Aspinall. He gives up a slight height advantage here, but these fighters bring an identical reach of 78 inches. He is a quiet achiever who does not chase the spotlight, but he’ll receive an enormous career boost if he can spring the upset in London.
Aspinall v Tybura UFC betting predictions
This contest may not be the walkover that fight fans expect from the much-hyped Aspinall. The top UFC bookmakers give his opponent almost no hope, which seems unrealistic. Tybura’s skillset matches favourably with those of Aspinall, and we would not recommend taking the short odds on offer for the favourite. Given that this is not the mismatch it might appear, we are tipping the fight to at least enter the second round.
