Aryna Sabalenka favourite to claim US Open women’s title
Newly christened world No.2 Aryna Sabalenka is favoured to win her third Grand Slam this year at the US Open, with the Belarusian edging ahead of Iga Swiatek in the outright betting this week.
While Sabalenka and Swiatek lead the US Open women’s title odds, both Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina are in contention too, with a range of other strong betting options at leading sports bookmakers.
The top two seeds sit well ahead of the rest of the pack, with odds less than half those of the third line of betting.
Sabalenka and Swiatek were level a fortnight ago, but the world No.2’s big win over Swiatek in Cincinnati swung the betting in her favour.
Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula are also given a chance, for very different reasons.
Rybakina has struggled to perform in New York, but won Wimbledon in 2022 and made the Australian Open final. Pegula, on the other hand is playing at home and has won nine of her last 10 matches.
From Mirra Andreeva (inexperienced but in-form) to Naomi Osaka (experienced but out of form), there is something for everyone. Qinwen Zheng is our choice, given her Australian Open and Olympics performances.
Compared to the men’s draw, a much larger group of contenders exist in the US Open Women’s Singles betting. None of these players have shown enough consistency to be considered strong betting options, however all have the firepower to put together a run in New York.
Outside of the listed favourites, there are still some great odds to be had with tennis betting sites.
Elina Svitolina ($67) is an experienced head that regularly over-performs at Grand Slams. Jelena Ostapenko ($81) is a mercurial big-hitter with a major under her belt already, while teen Linda Noskova ($101) is on the rise.
