Amanda Lemos and Jessica Andrade are set to clash in the main event of UFC on ESPN+ 63 this Saturday night in Las Vegas. Lemos will be looking for a sixth-straight win, while Andrade is trying to fight her way back into the UFC Strawweight Championship title picture.
Amanda Lemos record, form & stats
Amanda Lemos (11-1-1) has a solid amount of power for this weight class, as seven of her 11 career wins have come by way of knockout. Since losing for the first time in her professional career in her UFC debut against Leslie Smith back in 2017 at bantamweight, Lemos moved to strawweight and is a perfect 5-0-0 since. Her most recent win came by split decision against Angela Hill in December.
Jessica Andrade record, form & stats
Jessica Andrade (22-9-0) bounced back from a loss to Valentina Shevchenko for the UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship with a first-round knockout win over Cynthia Calvillo at UFC 266. Andrade’s matches often include plenty of fireworks as six of her last seven fights have ended in knockouts (with her being on the delivering end of four of those and the receiving end of two of them). The one fight that didn’t end in a knockout was a thrilling split decision loss against Rose Namajunas at UFC 251 that was one of the top fights in 2020.
Lemos vs Andrade fight analysis & best bets
This fight will be a great proving ground for Amanda Lemos, who hasn’t faced any competition nearly as tough as Jessica Andrade to date. While we might be tempted to take a shot on her at underdog odds if the price were higher, this current price seems to be treating Andrade a little too harshly for her recent 2-3 skid. After all, those three losses came against one of the best women’s fighters of all time in Shevchenko and against former strawweight champion Zhang Weili and current champion Rose Namajunas.
Andrade is 6-3 over her last nine fights with impressive knockout wins over Namajunas (to win the UFC Strawweight Championship) and Katlyn Chookagian. It’s possible that Lemos is ready to pass this test and establish herself as a legitimate contender in this division. But we haven’t seen enough out of her, especially in her most recent fight against Angela Hill, to pick her against a proven powerhouse like Andrade. We’re rolling with the favorite in what should be a fun main event.
