AFL Round 22 tips, predictions & free multi picks
Round 22 of the 2025 AFL season kicks off with an MCG blockbuster that could have a big part in shaping the top eight.
While the rest of the matchups seem a little lopsided in comparison, there are still plenty of solid punting opportunities out there.
Read on to see our free AFL betting tips for every game in Round 22, including our top multi picks for the week.
Hawthorn v Collingwood
Thursday, August 7 – 7:30pm AEST – Melbourne Cricket Ground
All of a sudden, Collingwood are feeling the pressure after losing three of their last four games. They now face a tricky test against Hawthorn, whose finals hopes have taken a huge hit with the news that star midfielder Will Day is set to miss the rest of the year. With the Pies at close to full strength, Day’s absence tips this one in their favour.
Collingwood by 1-39 points
Geelong v Essendon
Friday, August 8 – 7:40pm AEST – GMHBA Stadium
Never mind the result — how many will Jeremy Cameron kick? Online bookmakers are giving us a mere $2 for the Coleman Medal favourite to boot six or more against the hapless Dons, and that seems a no-brainer for a guy coming off 22 goals in three games. The $4.60 on offer for ‘Jezza’ to kick the opener is also well worth a look.

Richmond v St Kilda
Saturday, August 9 – 1:20pm AEST – Melbourne Cricket Ground
Richmond are coming off a heavy loss to the rising Suns, and their lengthy injury list means it could be a tough end to the season. St Kilda did just enough to see off North Melbourne last week and should fancy their chances of making it three wins on the bounce. Saints wingman Mason Wood kicked three goals when these teams met in Round 3, and this game sets up for him to find plenty of space when he drifts inside 50.
Mason Wood 2+ goals
Brisbane v Sydney
Saturday, August 9 – 4:15pm AEST – The Gabba
The Swans had to really dig in to see off Essendon last weekend, and it’s hard to see how they match motors with a Brisbane outfit gunning for a top-four finish. Keep an eye on the weather for this one; the unders on total points is already well and truly in play, but if the rain comes, that bet will be a near certainty to hit.
Under 167.5 points
Carlton v Gold Coast
Saturday, August 9 – 7:35pm AEST – Marvel Stadium
Gold Coast are absolutely charging towards their first-ever AFL finals berth, while Michael Voss could be coaching for his life at Carlton — if the damage hasn’t already been done. The venue could play a part in this one; the Suns — and coach Damien Hardwick in particular — have just never liked the joint. With careers on the line, take Carlton to cover the handicap.
Carlton +28.5
Port Adelaide v Fremantle
Saturday, August 9 – 7:40pm ACST – Adelaide Oval
Fremantle did things the hard way against Carlton in Round 21, but their second half showed the kind of fight you would expect of a top-four contender. Port Adelaide fans will want to see a wholehearted display following the announcement of Travis Boak’s retirement, but it doesn’t look like the Power have much left to give. Freo forward Patrick Voss has hit career-best form on the run into the finals, and he is paying very good money to boot three or more.
Patrick Voss 3+ goals
GWS Giants v North Melbourne
Sunday, August 10 – 1:40pm AEST – Manuka Oval
GWS were brought crashing back to earth with their 88-point loss to the Bulldogs last Thursday night, and they will be determined to reclaim that vital percentage with a big win over the Kangaroos. North Melbourne were better against the Saints in Round 21, but they are fighting out of their weight class here. Giants gun Finn Callaghan has dropped off a touch in past two weeks and will be determined to bounce back with a big performance against a very beatable midfield.
Finn Callaghan 30+ disposals
Melbourne v Western Bulldogs
Sunday, August 10 – 3:15pm AEST – Melbourne Cricket Ground
No matter which way you slice it, teams do tend to improve in the first few weeks after sacking a coach during the season — so Simon Goodwin’s departure from Melbourne makes this a real danger game for the Western Bulldogs. Steer clear of the match markets and instead have a look at one of the Dogs’ in-form forwards to have an impact. Rhylee West at plus money for two or more goals is hard to ignore.
Rhylee West 2+ goals
West Coast v Adelaide
Sunday, August 10 – 3:10pm AWST – Optus Stadium
This is about as lopsided a matchup as you will ever see in the AFL. Adelaide sit top of the ladder and can all but lock up a top-four finish with a win in Perth, while West Coast have already claimed the wooden spoon. Crows wingman Dan Curtin has boosted his AFL Rising Star stocks massively in recent weeks and offers decent value for 20 or more disposals.
Dan Curtin 20+ disposals
