AFL Round 21 betting tips, multi picks & best odds

With just four rounds remaining in the 2025 AFL Premiership home-and-away season, the battle for spots inside the top eight is heating up.

Notable matchups include the Dogs hosting the Giants on Thursday night, Hawthorn heading to Adelaide on Friday, and the Pies facing the Lions on Saturday.

Western Bulldogs vs GWS Giants

Thursday, July 31 – 7:30pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

This game has the potential to shape the top eight. The Dogs got the choccies when these sides met back in Round 7, but that is their only win against top-eight opposition this year. Meanwhile, the Giants are on a run of six straight wins and look well over the odds to keep that run going and put themselves inside the top four.

Adelaide vs Hawthorn

Friday, August 1 – 7:10pm ACST – Adelaide Oval

Sitting one game off the top of the AFL ladder, the Crows will be looking to extend their eight-match winning streak at Adelaide Oval. Hawthorn are also in form, winning six of their last seven, but their inability to kick a big score could prove costly against one of the AFL’s best forward lines.

Melbourne vs West Coast

Saturday, August 2 – 1:20pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

After giving up the biggest fourth-quarter comeback in AFL history last Sunday, the Demons have a chance to regain some morale as they welcome the last-placed Eagles. This game shouldn’t be much of a spectacle, but keep an eye on Melbourne’s Trent Rivers, who has been a rare bright spot in recent weeks. He has collected over 25 disposals in three of the last five weeks and offers great value to do so again.

Gold Coast vs Richmond

Saturday, August 2 – 4:10pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

Despite losing to the Tigers when these sides met back in Round 6, expect the Suns to make a statement as clear favourites with AFL betting sites. Looking to continue his Brownlow Medal charge, keep an eye on Gold Coast captain Noah Anderson. Sydney vs Essendon

Saturday, August 2 – 4:15pm AEST – SCG

A disappointing second half ended Sydney’s season last Friday, but they should still be too strong for the Bombers. Injuries have taken out the Swans’ tall posts, but Isaac Heeney is the one to watch in the Sydney forward line. He has 12 goals in his last five games, so expect him to kick a few against this undermanned Essendon outfit.

Collingwood vs Brisbane

Saturday, August 2 – 7:35pm AEST – MCG

Coming off an embarrassing defeat against the Suns last Saturday, it doesn’t get any easier for the Lions as they face the top-of-the-ladder Magpies at the MCG. While Collingwood’s form has been shaky in the last three weeks, expect them to rise to the occasion. Brisbane will respond, but it will be tough to get over the line.

St Kilda vs North Melbourne

Sunday, August 3 – 1:40pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

After their miraculous win against the Demons last Sunday, all eyes are on St Kilda gun Nasiah Wanganeen-Milera in this clash against the Kangaroos. However, the recent performances of young gun Max Hall have also caught the eye. Averaging over 20 disposals per game in the last five weeks, Hall still offers excellent value to reach that mark again at $2.25 with leading online bookmakers.

Geelong vs Port Adelaide

Sunday, August 3 – 3:15pm AEST – GMHBA Stadium

In a clash between two sides heading in opposing directions, expect the Cats to be far too good. Led by Jeremy Cameron, Geelong’s forward line has been explosive, while Port Adelaide’s defence has been incredibly leaky. At the Cattery, expect this game to get ugly as the hosts score another percentage-boosting win.

Fremantle vs Carlton

Sunday, August 3 – 3:10pm AWST – Optus Stadium

On a run of three impressive victories, Fremantle are making a strong push for the top eight. Facing a dysfunctional Carlton, expect the Dockers’ strong form to continue. Freo forward Patrick Voss has exploded with nine goals in the last two weeks, and he offers strong value to kick a couple once again.
