AFL Round 19 betting tips, goalkicker picks & disposal odds

AFL Round 19 betting preview

The AFL fixture has taken a battering in the press ahead of Round 19, but that doesn’t detract from what should be an entertaining week of Australian rules footy on the whole.

Friday night’s clash at the Gabba offers plenty of intrigue as the Doggies look to silence their doubters, while Sunday’s games at the MCG and Adelaide Oval could prove critical in the race for top-four spots.

There is no shortage of value to be found for punters, and we have gone through every game and come with the top AFL betting tips for Round 19.

Essendon v GWS Giants

Thursday, July 17 – 7:30pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

After losing four more players to injury in their horror loss to Richmond in Round 18, Essendon are scraping the barrel just to put a team together. This should be an easy kill for the Giants, who are picking up real momentum on the run towards finals. Finn Callaghan is flying for GWS and could have a field day against this depleted Bombers side.

Brisbane v Western Bulldogs

Friday, July 18 – 7:40pm AEST – The Gabba

The Western Bulldogs keep falling short against top-eight teams, so they will be eager to make a statement at the Gabba this Friday night. The Brisbane Lions are building nicely, however, and it is hard to see them dropping this one at home. The Dogs should be good enough to keep it competitive for the most part, so take the Lions to win by 39 or less at solid odds of $2.20 with the top online bookmakers.

Hawthorn v Port Adelaide

Saturday, July 19 – 1:20pm AEST – UTAS Stadium

Port Adelaide caused one of the boilovers of the 2025 AFL season when these teams met in Gather Round, and you can bet Hawthorn will be out to settle the score. While Power have won their last four games against the Hawks, all of those clashes were at Adelaide Oval — and Hawthorn in Launceston are a different prospect altogether. The forecast is wet and cold, so take the unders on total points.

Sydney v North Melbourne

Saturday, July 19 – 4:15pm AEST – Sydney Cricket Ground

With star ruckman Tristan Xerri out suspended, it is hard to see North Melbourne doing much against a rejuvenated Sydney side. That said, the Kangaroos forwards fired in the loss to Melbourne last Sunday, and you might find some value in the goalkicker betting markets with the best AFL bookies. Cooper Harvey booted four against the Dees, so the $4 odds for him to kick a couple this week jump off the page.

Carlton v Melbourne

Saturday, July 19 – 7:35pm AEST – Melbourne Cricket Ground

Both these teams are trudging towards the end of the AFL 2025 season, but at least Melbourne have looked competitive. Carlton are in all sorts, and with their forwards flopping week after week, a fifth consecutive loss appears inevitable. The Blues have struggled to deal with small forwards all season, so Kysaiah Pickett looks like pretty good value for three or more goals at $3.15 with Picklebet.

West Coast v Richmond

Saturday, July 19 – 6:10pm AWST – Optus Stadium

West Coast showed some ticker last week in their loss to Port Adelaide, while Richmond came out on the right side of an absolute stinker against Essendon. Anything could happen in this one, so it might be best to steer clear of backing any results and instead focus on the exotics. Tigers onballer Jacob Hopper has run into some good form and looks a safe bet to have 25 or more disposals against an inexperienced Eagles midfielder.

Geelong v St Kilda

Sunday, July 20 – 1:10pm AEST – GMHBA Stadium

While St Kilda saluted when these teams met at Docklands earlier in the season, Geelong have won 12 in a row against the Saints at Kardinia Park. Ross Lyon’s men have won only two of their last 13 games, which makes their narrow loss to Sydney last round all the more painful. The Cats might not be in peak form, losing to GWS and Brisbane in the past three weeks, but they will get the job done at home.

Collingwood v Fremantle

Sunday, July 20 – 3:15pm AEST – Melbourne Cricket Ground

Fremantle are flying towards the finals, but there are big queries about their ability to win at the MCG. Collingwood are coming off their third loss of the 2025 AFL season and will be eager to show that was nothing more than a bump in the road. The Dockers have caused the Pies some problems in their last couple of meetings, so back this one to stay under 39 points.

Adelaide v Gold Coast

Sunday, July 20 – 4:10pm ACST – Adelaide Oval

The final game of Round 19 might be the best of the lot. Adelaide sit third on the AFL ladder after humbling the Bulldogs in Melbourne, while Gold Coast are two spots below them following their nailbiting win over Collingwood. Only one point separated these sides when they met at Carrara back in April, and another close contest would be no surprise.
