Round 16 of the 2025 AFL Premiership season features seven exciting matchups, kicking off with an intriguing clash between Port Adelaide and Carlton on Thursday night. Here are our top AFL betting tips for every game this round.

Port Adelaide vs Carlton

Thursday, June 26 – 7pm ACST – Adelaide Oval

Coming off their disappointing loss to the Kangaroos last Saturday, the pressure is on the Blues to put in a statement performance. There is enough quality in the side to compete, while Port Adelaide are far from a complete product. Neither side have shown any reason to back them confidently, but with Michael Voss’ job on the line, don’t be surprised if Carlton can pull off a minor upset.

Sydney vs Western Bulldogs

Back at full strength for the first time this season, we saw glimpses of the 2024 Sydney last Saturday. However, despite being at home, top AFL bookmakers have them as underdogs this week against the Bulldogs. Luke Beveridge’s side have won their last two games by over 70 points, but with a reputation of being flat-track bullies, this game should be closer than the AFL ladder suggests.

Gold Coast vs Melbourne

Saturday, June 28 – 1:20pm AEST – People First Stadium

After dropping their last three games, the Suns find themselves outside the eight for the first time this season. But as they welcome Melbourne up to the Gold Coast, expect the Queenslanders to return to winning form. They beat the Demons by 58 points on the road back in Round 3, so expect a similarly one-sided result once again.

Hawthorn vs North Melbourne

Saturday, June 28 – 4:15pm AEST – University of Tasmania Stadium

Despite securing an impressive 11-point win over Carlton last Saturday, expect North Melbourne to struggle against Hawthorn this Saturday. The Hawks should be well rested off their bye, while their record in Launceston speaks for itself. Poor conditions should keep the score from blowing out too far, but don’t expect this game to be competitive.

Collingwood vs West Coast

Saturday, June 28 – 7:35pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

At $15 with top Australian betting sites, West Coast enter this clash with Collingwood as one of the biggest underdogs of the AFL 2025 season. However, with little value in many of the game markets, keep an eye on second-game Eagle Tom McCarthy. The mid-season pickup collected a record-breaking 31 disposals on debut, and with the ball expected to live in the Eagles’ backline, back him to see plenty of the footy again this week.

Richmond vs Adelaide

Sunday, June 29 – 3:20pm AEST – MCG

Coming off the bye, Adelaide have a great chance to cement their spot in the top four with a percentage-boosting win over Richmond. While they haven’t beaten Richmond at the MCG since 2008, it is hard to see how the Tigers can stop one of the AFL’s most potent forward lines.

Fremantle vs St Kilda

Sunday, June 29 – 3:10pm AWST – Optus Stadium

After a dominant win over the Bombers in Perth last Thursday, the Dockers are looking for their sixth consecutive victory. While St Kilda were emphatic winners when these sides met in Round 8, they have managed just one win in their six games since. At home, Freo should be too strong.
