AFL Round 14 betting preview, premiership odds & market news
The 2021 AFL season reached new heights during round 13 with massive upsets, big comebacks and nail-biting finishes. Only five games are scheduled for this coming weekend, but they include a couple of intriguing matchups. BettingSite takes a look at the top odds for each game in round 14, as well as the latest in the AFL Premiership betting markets.
AFL Round 14 odds & matchups
Geelong Cats $1.68 vs Western Bulldogs $2.20
The Geelong Cats decided against moving this Friday night blockbuster with the Western Bulldogs in order to retain their home-field advantage at GMHBA Stadium. The match will now stay in Geelong, but fans will not be allowed to attend the high-stakes contest. The Bulldogs come into this clash fresh after a week off, while the Cats are in good form after winning five straight matches.
Gold Coast Suns $3.43 vs Port Adelaide Power $1.32
Stuart Dew’s Suns could not get the job done on the road against the injury-riddled Dockers last week, but a return to Metricon Stadium could spark them up. Port Adelaide was outmuscled by the clinical Cats in round 13, making this clash a must-win for Ken Hinkley’s men. The Power have been underwhelming on the road this year, and Gold Coast could exploit that.
North Melbourne Kangaroos $5.30 vs Brisbane Lions $1.16
This match has been moved from Marvel Stadium to Blundstone Arena to avoid COVID restrictions in Victoria. The Kangaroos gave away a 28-point lead to the Giants in the final quarter of their draw last week, so they will be desperate to make amends. However, the well-rested Lions will be hard to beat in Tasmania this Saturday.
GWS Giants $1.64 vs Carlton Blues $2.26
It is now or never for David Teague and the Blues, as his position as coach is now being questioned given Carlton’s horrible form. The Giants were almost embarrassed by North Melbourne last week in Tasmania, but they escaped with a draw after their class prevailed in the final term. The Blues still believe they can feature in September, but a loss here would make it hard for them to sneak into the top eight.
Hawthorn Hawks $2.43 vs Essendon Bombers $1.56
This match has also been relocated, moving from the MCG to Launceston’s University of Tasmania Stadium. The Hawks and Bombers faced off in one of 2021’s best matches back in round one, but both sides have changed significantly since. The young Dons have come on in leaps and bounds, so much so that a top-eight finish now looks a possibility. After upsetting the Swans last week, could the Hawks win a second consecutive match and build some late-season momentum?

AFL 2021 Premiership odds – Round 14
The Demons have been pushed back from $4.50 to $5 in the AFL Premiership market at Sportsbet after the Magpies caused a huge upset in Nathan Buckley’s final match as Collingwood coach. The Cats have to $5.50 after knocking off the Power ($9) at the Adelaide Oval, while Richmond fell to $6 after losing to the West Coast Eagles ($15). The Giants have slipped to $41 following their draw with the Kangaroos ($1001), while Sydney ($31) have also fallen considerably on the back of their shock loss to Hawthorn ($1001).
