AFL multi bet of the week
IT seems to be the case every week in the AFL, but round 12 is truly a finals-shaping weekend of football.

The Demons and the Pies clash on the Queen’s Birthday Monday, which could see the victor inside the eight by the end of the round, while condemning the loser to an uphill battle just to remain in contention.

The Saints face the ominous task of beating the Crows in Adelaide to keep their finals hopes alive, while the Dockers cannot afford to drop the points against a weak Lions outfit in the sunshine state.

See what we mean about finals-shaping?

We are not worried about the future right now however, we are looking to the present – which is this week’s multi, and while we are going relatively safe this round, we are supremely confident of generating a winning dividend after several near misses.

All odds for the 12th week of the AFL season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is offering prospective clients a terrific deal for those who are yet to sign up.

Adelaide Crows vs. St Kilda Saints

Friday, June 9 from 7.20 pm AEST, Adelaide Oval, Adelaide

The Crows return to their home ground after last week’s disappointment, while the Saints are looking to keep in finals contention after a lacklustre month of footy.

Adelaide’s 22-point loss to Geelong last week belied just how lopsided the contest was. The Cats controlled the game from the outset and dominated the South Australians.

St Kilda is fresh off their bye, which came at the ideal time given their struggles.

The Crows have won eight of their last nine games against the Saints by an average winning margin of 74 points, and we do not think the visitors have improved enough to turn that around

We are backing Adelaide to kick off our multi in style.

Adelaide Crows to win – $1.18

Brisbane Lions vs. Fremantle Dockers

Saturday, June 10 from 4.35 pm AEST, GABBA, Brisbane

The men in purple travel to Brisbane to face the rested Lions in a pivotal match up for the visitors.

Fremantle should have beaten Collingwood last week but failed to capitalise on an undermanned Magpie outfit which looked to be out of petrol in the last quarter. If the Dockers miss the finals they will rue that missed opportunity.

Brisbane is fresh off their bye and should have a number of key players returning for this match up.

This is a fixture that the Dockers have dominated in recent times. Fremantle has won nine straight games against the Lions including two matches by 14 goals or more.

We expect this trend to continue as the Dockers look to get their finals push back on track.

Fremantle Dockers to win – $1.35

Carlton Blues vs. GWS Giants

Sunday, June 11 from 3.20 pm AEST, Etihad Stadium, Melbourne

The struggling Blues host the GWS Giants in a match that could get ugly on Sunday.

The Giants are fresh off a spirited win over a determined Essendon outfit. The Dons pushed the men in orange right to the line but ultimately Leon Cameron’s men had too much class for the Bombers.

Carlton is coming off their mid-season bye.

The Giants have had no troubles beating the Blues in the past and will be looking to extend their winning margin against them to five straight. In their last three contests the Blues have not gotten within 11 goals of the league leaders.

GWS should win this easily to move us onto the fourth and final leg.

GWS Giants to win – $1.19

Melbourne Demons vs. Collingwood Magpies

Monday, June 12 from 3.20 pm AEST, Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne

The traditional Queen’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood rounds out our AFL multi this weekend and the stakes could not be higher for either side.

Both teams sit just outside finals contention, but could end the round inside the eight if results go their way.

The Demons are fresh off their bye, but before that displayed spectacular form in beating the Gold Coast in the red centre. The Dees overturned a six goal deficit to win by that margin.

Collingwood put together arguably their performance of the season against the Dockers in the west, but was their win a pyrrhic victory? The Pies will be without key players Daniel Wells and Jamie Elliot for extended periods following the exciting win.

A triumph for Melbourne on Monday would hand them a fourth-straight win against their bitter rivals. While this is not a foregone conclusion, if the Demons are serious about season 2017 they will account for the understrength Pies and generate us a winning dividend.

Melbourne Demons to win – $1.56
