With two exciting preliminary finals in Melbourne and Brisbane, here’s a preview of what to expect.

In the first preliminary final, the GWS Giants head down to Melbourne to face the Collingwood Magpies at the MCG.
After having a week off, the Magpies are expected to regain star youngster Nick Daicos for this clash after missing several weeks with a knee injury. However, veteran midfielder Taylor Adams has been ruled out due to a hamstring injury sustained at training.
During their win against the Power, GWS Giants ruckman Kieran Briggs suffered a shoulder injury and will be monitored throughout the week.
Despite the Giants looking extremely strong across their last two weeks, the Magpies will be refreshed and boosted by the home support. We’re expecting the Magpies to book their spot in the grand final as they win this match.
Collingwood to win
Brisbane Lions vs Carlton Blues
Second preliminary final AFL Finals 2023 Betting Odds & Game Info | |
---|---|
Best odds | Brisbane -263.16 at Palmerbet | Carlton +235 at Bet365 |
When | Saturday, September 23 | 5:15pm AEST |
Where | The Gabba, Brisbane |
Last time they met | Carlton 11.8.74 – Brisbane 15.10.100 (Rd 8, 2023) |
Watch live | Seven, Fox Sports, Kayo |
The Brisbane Lions host the Carlton Blues on Saturday afternoon at the Gabba in the second preliminary final.
After a comfortable win over Port Adelaide two weeks ago, expect minimal changes for the Lions. Veteran forward Jack Gunston is no certainty to return to the side if he recovers from a knee injury, while Daniel Rich is pushing his case to play again before retiring at the end of the season.
The Blues are expected to regain forward pair Harry McKay and Jack Martin for this weekend, returning from concussion and suspension respectively. It likely means Matt Kennedy and Ollie Hollands will be omitted, while Jesse Motlop or David Cunningham will likely play as the substitute.
In ominous form and undefeated at home, the Brisbane Lions look set to make their first grand final since 2004. We are backing them at the line of -19.5 points.
Brisbane Lions -19.5
