AFL: Carlton firm in flag betting as Brownlow race heats up

AFL betting sites have brought Carlton into $4 to win the premiership flag in 2024.

The league-leading Swans remain steady at $3 with Neds following their one-point loss to Fremantle, who have shortened to $15 after vaulting into third place on the AFL ladder.

Collingwood are paying $7 for back-to-back flags despite going down to the Suns on the Gold Coast, with Brisbane rounding out the single-figure chances at $8 after their come-from-behind win over Melbourne.

While Essendon are clinging onto a top-four spot, their premiership odds have drifted to $34 after three losses in their last four games.

Meanwhile, Magpies star Nick Daicos is the market leader with AFL bookmakers in a fascinating four-horse race for the 2024 Brownlow Medal.

The 2022 AFL Rising Star winner is sitting at $3.75 with Bet365, ahead of Carlton captain Patrick Cripps ($4.50), Western Bulldogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli ($5) and Sydney jet Isaac Heeney ($5.50).

Heeney was once the runaway leader in Brownlow betting, but he is now facing serious competition for votes from in-form Swans teammates Errol Gulden ($17) and Chad Warner ($34).

The leading quartet have a significant buffer on the rest of the field, with Essendon’s Zach Merrett and Fremantle’s Caleb Serong the next best at $17 apiece.
