AFL: Brisbane now premiership favourites as rivals stutter

The Brisbane Lions are now $4 favourites to win the 2024 AFL Premiership.

This comes after a confident victory over the Gold Coast Suns in a round where two key rivals dropped points.

The Swans were no match for the rising Western Bulldogs on Sunday, while the Blues fell short against a hungry Port Adelaide outfit on Friday night.

Top bookie Bet365 has Brisbane and Sydney tied at the head of the outright market, with Carlton easing out to $7.50 to win their first flag since 1995.

Fremantle, sitting pretty in third place after their comfortable win over West Coast, have shortened to $9 for a maiden premiership win.

The Bulldogs, now in the top eight, have firmed into a $10 quote, which they share with a GWS Giants outfit that just got past Melbourne in round 20.

Geelong are steady at $13 after their 40-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday, while Hawthorn and Port Adelaide remain outside chances at $21 following their respective victories at the weekend.

The biggest losers of the round were Essendon, who fell to 10th on the AFL ladder after their 53-point defeat to St Kilda on Saturday.

While the Bombers have spent much of the season in top four, online bookmakers now have them at $101 for the premiership and $5 just to make finals.

Punters can also put a line through Collingwood ($67), Melbourne ($81), Gold Coast ($251) and St Kilda ($501).
