AFL Round 13 tips & preview

Round 13 of the 2025 AFL Premiership season is here with eight exciting matches across five days, headlined by the King’s Birthday clash between Melbourne and Collingwood. Here are BettingSite.com.au’s top AFL tips for every game of the round.

Western Bulldogs vs Hawthorn

Thursday, June 5 – 7:30pm AEST – Marvel Stadium

After a hot start to the AFL season, the Hawks have had a reality check in recent weeks, losing three in a row and their captain James Sicily to injury. This tough stretch continues against the dangerous Dogs, who field a fully fit midfield for the first time this season. Luke Beveridge’s side are undefeated at Marvel Stadium in 2025 and should be fresh coming off the bye.

Adelaide vs Brisbane

Friday, June 6 – 7:10pm ACST – Adelaide Oval

Coming off a dominant 90-point win over the Swans last Saturday, Adelaide should be full of confidence heading into this clash. Brisbane have been shaky in recent weeks and should struggle against the Crows’ competition leading attack. Particularly threatening is small forward Josh Rachele, who has eight goals in his last two games and should be dangerous once again.

Richmond vs Sydney

Saturday, June 7 – 1:20pm AEST – MCG

Needing a response, expect Sydney to put a statement performance together as they come off a pair of embarrassing defeats. Although Richmond have plenty of young talent, they sit 16th for a reason, as they have struggled to put together four-quarter performances.

Geelong vs Gold Coast

Saturday, June 7 – 4:15pm AEST – GMHBA Stadium

Looking like making their first ever finals appearance in 2025, the Suns face a tough test in Geelong. The Cats are on a three-game winning streak and have lost just one game at home this season. While Gold Coast have the talent to match Geelong on paper, their road struggles are a consistent and they should struggle here.

GWS Giants vs Port Adelaide

Saturday, June 7 – 7:35pm AEST – Manuka Oval

After escaping in a close one against Richmond last Saturday, the Giants have a chance to push the top four as they welcome Port Adelaide to cold and wet Canberra. The visitors have lost their last four matches by an average of 55 points, so expect their struggles to continue.

North Melbourne vs West Coast

Sunday, June 8 – 1:20pm AWST – Hands Oval

In a rare North Melbourne home clash in Bunbury, not much can be expected as they battle West Coast for the wooden spoon. Neither side has shown much form recently, but with a much healthier list and coming off the bye, the Kangaroos should be too strong as favourites with top AFL bookies.

Carlton vs Essendon

Sunday, June 8 – 7:20pm AEST – MCG

In a clash between old rivals, both Carlton and Essendon are looking to return to form. The Bombers sit higher on the ladder, but with their wins coming against six of the seven bottom sides, their form is hard to judge. They also have an extensive injury list, so back the Blues to get the job done.

Melbourne vs Collingwood

Monday, June 9 – 3:20pm AEST – MCG

Sitting on top of the ladder and on a four-game winning streak, the Magpies are currently the premiership favourite with major online bookmakers. Facing a Melbourne side who lost to St Kilda last Sunday, expect Collingwood to be too strong, putting a margin on the 12th-placed team.
