Adam Treloar set to return for Bulldogs in AFL Round 8

Western Bulldogs News

The Western Bulldogs’ fortunes continue to rise heading into Round 8 of the 2025 AFL season, with star midfielder Adam Treloar on track to play his first game of the year after overcoming a calf injury.

Fresh off an impressive road win over GWS, the Bulldogs are set to welcome back several key players.

Treloar, along with recruit Nick Coffield, is expected to be available for selection this weekend, pending final fitness tests at training.

“In some great news, Adam has built some great continuity in his training across the last few months after suffering an injury-interrupted preparation to the season,” Bulldogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell said.

“He is chomping at the bit to pull the jumper on again, so if he gets through training like we expect, he will return to availability.”

Treloar has completed three consecutive weeks of full training, successfully replicating match conditions and clearing the major hurdles in his recovery.

Coffield, who has been sidelined with a hamstring issue, also appears poised to make his 2025 debut after a strong return to full training.

“Nick has progressed well following his hamstring injury a few weeks ago,” Bell said.

“He completed a game-like session over the weekend and will fully train again this week.

“If everything goes to plan, Nick will be putting his hand up for selection.”

The Bulldogs could also regain Lachie McNeil, who is nearing the end of his recovery, while Luke Kennedy is progressing steadily through concussion protocols.

With a crucial stretch of games ahead, the Bulldogs’ looming reinforcements could not come at a better time as they look to build momentum in the second third of the season.

The Doggies face Port Adelaide this Saturday at Mars Stadium in Ballarat, where they are favourites at $1.37 with BetOnline.

The Bulldogs’ renewed form has them at $13 with top online bookmakers to win the 2025 AFL Premiership.
