Brisbane Roar vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Friday, December 1 – 6:45pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium
Two sides at the top end of the table kick off round six as the first-placed Western Sydney Wanderers take on the fourth-placed Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium. The undefeated Wanderers have been impenetrable in defence, conceding just two goals. The Roar sit just one point behind but have scrapped for some close wins. Look for this match to be a close one, with Wanderers staying undefeated in a draw.
Draw
Western United vs Wellington Phoenix
Saturday, December 2 – 5:30pm AEDT – Mars Stadium
Last-placed Western United will be keen to turn their fortunes around this weekend when they welcome the in-form Wellington Phoenix to Ballarat. Losing their last four matches in a row, United have just three goals for the season. The Phoenix, meanwhile, remain undefeated after their upset win against Melbourne City last weekend. Expect Wellington to keep their hot streak alive with a win on the road.
Wellington Phoenix to win
Sydney FC vs Perth Glory
Saturday, December 2 – 7:45pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Sydney FC will be looking to get their season back on track after going down to Wanderers last weekend. The Glory have also had a poor start to the season, posting just one win so far. The concern for Sydney is their ability to hit the scoreboard, as they have found the net in just one match this season. As such, this is shaping up to be a low-scoring affair.
Under 2.5 total goals
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory
Sunday, December 3 – 3pm AEDT – Industree Group Stadium
After collecting their first win of the season last weekend, the Central Coast Mariners will be keen to keep their momentum when they welcome the undefeated Melbourne Victory. Down to 10 men last weekend, the Victory salvaged their third 1-1 draw in a row with a 95th-minute equaliser to keep their unbeaten record intact. Having lost just one of the last seven matches against the Mariners, the Victory should be too strong here.
Melbourne Victory to win
Newcastle Jets vs Melbourne City
Sunday, December 3 – 5pm AEDT – McDonald Jones Stadium
Following their gutting 1-0 loss in Wellington last weekend, Melbourne City will be keen to get their season back on track when they visit Newcastle. The Jets have also struggled this season, winning just once, and they gave the Mariners their first victory of the campaign last weekend. With five of the last six matches between these sides going over 2.5 goals, expect another high-scoring encounter.
Over 2.5 total goals
Macarthur FC vs Adelaide United
Monday, December 4 – 7pm AEDT – Campbelltown Sports Stadium
Adelaide United bounced back to form last weekend with a comfortable win over Western United to return to third place on the table. Facing the undefeated Macarthur FC on Monday night, United will need to put on another quality performance. Macarthur have drawn their last two games and will be keen to keep their unbeaten streak alive. The home side has won every encounter between these two, and that doesn’t look likely to change here.
