A League Round 14 free soccer tips & best odds | January 25-28

The A-League season continues this weekend, as we are treated to six matches of Australian soccer action. Here are our top tips for Round 14 of the 2023/24 A-League Season:

Melbourne City vs Adelaide United preview

Thursday, January 25 – 7:45pm AEDT – AAMI Park

Dropping their last two matches to quality opposition, Melbourne City have tumbled down the standings into eighth and out of the finals positions. With defence a clear concern for City, they face a tough challenge this weekend as they welcome the best attack in the A-League, Adelaide United. With both sides showing inconsistent form, it is hard to back a winner, but with each of the last three matches between the sides going over the 3.5 goals line, back this one to be another high-scoring affair.

Melbourne Victory vs Sydney FC preview

Friday, January 26 – 7:45pm AEDT – AAMI Park

After missing out on sitting in the top spot due to conceding a late equalizer to the Wellington Phoenix last weekend, Melbourne Victory will be keen to return to winning ways in the ‘Big Blue’ derby this weekend. Sydney FC have been in excellent form of late, winning four of their last five. When the sides faced each other in round eight, it was Victory who comfortably got home with a 3-0 win. Back at AAMI Park, look for the home side to be too strong again as they keep their undefeated record alive.

Western United vs Western Sydney Wanderers preview

Saturday, January 27 – 5:00pm AEDT – North Hobart Oval

After falling to the struggling Perth Glory at home last weekend, the Western Sydney Wanderers have now dropped four points behind the league leaders. Facing another match they are expected to win, the Wanderers will need to be wary of complacency. Sat last on the table with just one point from their past four matches, Western United look likely to continue their struggles here.

Newcastle Jets vs Wellington Phoenix preview

Saturday, January 27 – 6:00pm AEDT – McDonald Jones Stadium

Sitting on top of the ladder thanks to their 95th-minute equalizer last weekend, the Wellington Phoenix face a challenging trip to Newcastle to face the Jets. One of just two sides to beat the Phoenix this season, the Jets come into this match full of confidence after their 3-1 win over the Brisbane Roar during the week. Two powerful offences, back this one to match the trend of high-scoring affairs, with ten of the past eleven matches between the sides going over the total points line.

Central Coast Mariners vs Brisbane Roar preview

Saturday, January 27 – 7:45pm AEDT – Industree Group Stadium

Arguably the most in-form side in the A-League, the Central Coast Mariners continued their excellent run with a late winner over Melbourne City last weekend. As the best home side in the competition, they will be extremely confident heading into their clash with the worst defensive record. As the leading bookmaker odds are skewed in favour of the Mariners, look to add the over, as they take advantage of the struggling Roar.

Macarthur FC vs Perth Glory preview

Sunday, January 28 – 5:00pm AEDT – Campbelltown Sports Stadium

Securing a vital win over the Brisbane Roar last weekend, Macarthur FC have held onto the fifth spot on the table. Inconsistent throughout the season, Macarthur faces another test as they welcome the dangerous Perth Glory. Full of confidence after their win over the Wanderers last weekend, the Glory will be up for the occasion, but their defensive concerns may prove too strong here.
