A League Round 13 free soccer tips & best odds | January 18-21
As we reach the halfway point of the season, the A-League table is beginning to take shape. This weekend the action continues with five matches of top-quality Australian soccer. Here are our tips and previews for Round 13 of the 2023/24 A-League Men season.
Brisbane Roar vs Macarthur FC preview
Thursday, January 18 – 6:45pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium
After collecting their third consecutive draw last weekend, Macarthur FC have now stretched their winless streak to six matches. Needing a win, they face the Brisbane Roar, who snapped their own four-match losing streak last weekend in a comeback win against the Jets. When they faced each other earlier in the season, it ended in a 1-1 draw, and with the sides sitting just one point apart on the table, expect another tight contest here.

Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory preview
Friday, January 19 – 7:00pm NZDT – Sky Stadium
A top-of-the-table clash headlines Round 13 as the Melbourne Victory head across the Tasman to face the Wellington Phoenix. Still undefeated, the Victory have been the dominant side of the competition, but consistently conceded equalisers have left them sitting behind the Phoenix on the table as a result of their six draws. Despite sitting first, there are concerns around the Phoenix in defence after they have conceded eight goals in their past four matches. We like the Victory to maintain their unbeaten record, but with the Phoenix at home, the draw is the value pick here.

Sydney FC vs Newcastle Jets preview
Friday, January 19 – 7:45pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
After going down 4-3 to Adelaide United at home last weekend, defensive concerns have re-emerged for Sydney FC as they slipped to ninth on the table. Needing a win to stay in touch with the top six, they welcome the struggling Newcastle Jets, who have won just once in their past five. With the match being held in Sydney, the home side should be too strong here as they secure their sixth win of the season.
Sydney FC to win
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Perth Glory preview
Saturday, January 20 – 7:45pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
Putting the pressure on the top two, the Wanderers secured a vital 1-0 win over Melbourne City last weekend. Welcoming the 11th-placed Glory to Western Sydney on Saturday night, the Wanderers should be too strong again. With little value on the straight bet, look for the Wanderers to continue their excellent defensive season by keeping a clean sheet here.
Wanderers win to nil
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne City preview
Sunday, January 21 – 5:00pm AEDT – Industree Group Stadium
Unbeaten in their last eight matches, the defending champion Mariners have been soaring up the table after losing their first four matches of the season. In the logjam of sides sat in the lower finals positions, the Mariners face the dangerous Melbourne City in the second grand final replay of the season. City had also been in great form, but a loss to the Wanderers snapped their six-match unbeaten streak last weekend. A hard match to pick, backing the overs seems like the safer bet between two of the highest-scoring sides in the A-League.
