A-League Round 12 betting preview & top odds | January 12-14
This weekend, the action continues with the inaugural A-League 2023/24 Unite Round, which brings all 12 sides to Sydney. Here are our free tips and previews for the six soccer matches this weekend:
Macarthur FC vs Western United preview
Friday, January 12 – 5:30pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
Winless in their last five matches, Macarthur FC have tumbled down the table and risk losing their spot in the top six. This weekend, they have a great chance to turn their form around as they welcome the last-placed Western United. With just two wins all season, United should struggle once again, giving Macarthur FC the chance to revive their season.
Macarthur FC to win
Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers preview
Friday, January 12 – 8:15pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
In arguably the match of the round, we have a clash between two top four sides. Melbourne City are undefeated in their past six matches and are the second-best attack in the A-League. Whereas the Wanderers have the best defence, their recent form has been shaky, alternating wins and losses over their past five. The Wanderers have the home ground advantage here, but they have not beaten City in their past nine attempts, which, paired with their current form, favours the Melbourne side.
Melbourne City to win
Central Coast Mariners vs Melbourne Victory preview
Saturday, January 13 – 5:15pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Still undefeated and sitting on top of the table, Melbourne Victory somehow come into this match as the underdogs as they face the in-form Central Coast Mariners. After losing their first four matches, the Mariners have looked unbeatable since, climbing their way up to fifth as they defend their title. With both sides in such impressive form, it is hard to predict a winner, but with such quality in attack, expect plenty of goals in this match.
Over 2.5 Goals
Adelaide United vs Sydney FC preview
Saturday, January 13 – 8:00pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Looking to revive their horror start to the season, Sydney FC have now won their past three matches to sit just outside the finals spots. This weekend they face Adelaide United, who are level on points but are trending in the opposite direction after winning just one of their past seven matches. With the home field advantage, Sydney FC should be too strong here.
Sydney FC to win
Brisbane Roar vs Newcastle Jets preview
Sunday, January 14 – 7:45pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
After suffering their fourth consecutive loss last weekend, there are major concerns around the Brisbane Roar as they have tumbled down the table. They have the worst defensive record in the A-League, and playing away, they have a goal difference of -8. They face Newcastle, who sit below Brisbane on the table, but come in with much better form, having lost just once in their past five matches. With neither side having the home advantage, this match should be close.
Draw
Perth Glory vs Wellington Phoenix preview
Sunday, January 14 – 7:45pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
After dropping critical points in their 2-2 draw with Adelaide United last weekend, the Wellington Phoenix will be keen to bounce back against Perth Glory. With the Phoenix in a title race and the Glory stuck in 11th, this match should be fairly one-sided. Wellington won their clash earlier in the season and we are expecting much of the same this weekend.
Wellington Phoenix to win
