A-League Rd 3 betting preview, free tips & predictions
The 2024/25 A-League season continues this weekend with six matches, headlined by the first-ever New Zealand Derby. Here are BettingSite.com.au’s top soccer tips and prop bets for Round 3.
Brisbane Roar vs Sydney FC
Friday, November 1 – 6:35pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium
Coming off an unsuccessful trip to Auckland last Sunday, it is a short turnaround for Sydney FC as they head up to Brisbane. The Roar — who had the bye last week — are also coming off a loss to Auckland, but given they are second favourites for the wooden spoon, it is no surprise to see them as underdogs in this clash. Brisbane were one of the lowest-scoring teams last season, so back Sydney FC to keep a clean sheet for added value.
Sydney FC to win to nil
Wellington Phoenix vs Auckland FC
Saturday, November 2 – 5pm NZDT – Sky Stadium
The top two sides in the A-League face off in the first edition of the New Zealand Derby. After wins over Sydney and Brisbane, Auckland remain the only side with a 100% record, while they are yet to concede a goal. Similarly, Wellington have conceded just once this season, which suggests this might be a gritty affair.
Under 2.5 goals
Central Coast Mariners vs Perth Glory
Saturday, November 2 – 5pm AEDT – Industree Group Stadium
In the most lopsided matchup of the weekend, top A-League bookmakers expect the Mariners to secure their first win of the season against the bottom-placed Glory. As the two-time defending champions at home facing a side that has conceded eight goals in just two weeks, back Central Coast to cover the -1.5 handicap.
Central Coast Mariners -1.5
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Adelaide United
Saturday, November 2 – 7:35pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
These two sides are desperate for their first win, so expect plenty of action at both ends of the park. While a winner may be tough to pick, all three games involving these sides this season have had both teams to score. Five of their last six meetings have gone over the total goals line, so back this game to go over 3.5 goals at $2 with Bet365.
Over 3.5 goals
Melbourne Victory vs Macarthur FC
Sunday, November 3 – 4pm AEDT – AAMI Park
Coming off an impressive 3-1 victory over Melbourne City, Victory face another tricky test against Macarthur FC. In a replay of the Australia Cup final, which Macarthur won, Melbourne enter as strong favourites. However, the player to watch is Macarthur winger Marin Jakolis, who has scored three goals in two A-League games and also scored the winner in the Cup final.

Western United vs Melbourne City
Monday, November 4 – 7pm AEDT – AAMI Park
With two draws in a row, Western United already look improved from their disastrous 2023/24 season. However, Melbourne City pose their toughest test yet as they look to bounce back from a derby defeat. Online bookmakers have City pegged as one of the top title contenders, so back them to respond with a statement performance.
