A-League R5 betting preview, free tips & value picks
The 2024/25 A-League Men season continues this weekend with the highly anticipated Unite Round, with all six matches being played in Sydney. Here are our best bets for every game of Round 5.
Perth Glory vs Western United
Friday, November 22 – 5:30pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
A matchup at a neutral venue provides an excellent opportunity for Perth Glory and Western United to turn their form around. Both teams are winless, but more importantly, they have struggled to find the back of the net, with just four goals from a combined eight matches. Picking a winner will be tough, but under 2.5 goals offers great value at $2.50 with leading A-League bookmakers.
Under 2.5 goals
Newcastle Jets vs Central Coast Mariners
Friday, November 22 – 8pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
It has been tough going for the Mariners to start the season, as the defending champions are still winless and sit 10th on the ladder. The Jets have also struggled so far, with a leaky defence causing plenty of problems. While Central Coast are yet to inspire, they should still have too much quality for the Jets at a neutral ground.
Central Coast Mariners to win
Brisbane Roar vs Adelaide United
Saturday, November 23 – 5pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
While Adelaide United have been one of the most erratic sides in the A-League in the past few seasons, one thing that has stayed constant is their games always involve plenty of scoring. They enter as favourites against the last-placed Roar this week, but as United have not kept a clean sheet in 13 matches, add both teams to score for some extra value.

Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Saturday, November 23 – 7:35pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
In the marquee matchup of the weekend, two inconsistent Sydney sides will be looking to get their season back on track. Sydney FC have looked more impressive and got the win when these sides met in Round 1, but their inability to keep a clean sheet has hurt them. Similarly, the Wanderers have had plenty of action at both ends of the pitch this season, so back this one to go over 3.5 goals at $2.20 with top sports betting sites.
Over 3.5 goals
Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory
Sunday, November 24 – 1:30pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Sitting on top of the A-League ladder with the best goal difference, Melbourne Victory have won their last three matches in a row. They enter this tough matchup as favourites against the Phoenix, who are coming off a dominant 3-0 win over the Mariners. Both these teams pride themselves on a strong defensive system, so don’t be surprised if this turns into an arm-wrestle.
Draw
Macarthur FC vs Auckland FC
Sunday, November 24 – 4pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
Things could not have gone much better for Auckland FC, who have won each of their first three A-League matches and are yet to concede a goal. Now they leave New Zealand for the first time to face Macarthur FC, the best attacking team in the competition. There is still plenty of unknown about Auckland FC, but given what we have seen so far, they look every chance to keep their perfect record intact.
