A-League R24 preview, betting predictions & top soccer odds
With just three weeks to go in the 2023/24 A-League season, the fight for positions is heating up across the table — including an exciting title race between the Central Coast Mariners and the Wellington Phoenix. Below are our top soccer betting tips for round 24.
Wellington Phoenix vs Melbourne Victory
Friday, April 12 – 7pm NZST – Sky Stadium
After their 2-1 loss to the Mariners last weekend, the Wellington Phoenix have now dropped down to second on goal difference. Hosting the third-placed Melbourne Victory, they come in as close underdogs despite playing at home, given the visitors are unbeaten in their past four. Watch out for Victory striker Bruno Fornaroli, who leads the A-League with 18 goals this season — including five in his past four games.

Adelaide United vs Macarthur FC
Friday, April 12 – 7:15 ACST – Coopers Stadium
On a run of three straight victories, Adelaide United are keeping their faint finals hopes alive with the best attacking record in the A-League. Macarthur FC need just one win to secure their finals spot, but two losses in a row have left them looking shaky. United are strong favourites with top A-League bookmakers and should be too good at home.
Adelaide United to win
Western United vs Central Coast Mariners
Saturday, April 13 – 3:30pm AEST – Regional Football Facility Tarneit
On top of the table by just a four-goal difference, the Mariners have an excellent chance to extend that gap as they face the 11th-placed Western United. Unbeaten in the past six games between the sides, the Mariners won the reverse fixture 4-0. With the best defensive side facing Western United’s terrible attack, the visitors are the safe pick.
Central Coast Mariners to win
Brisbane Roar vs Newcastle Jets
Saturday, April 13 – 5:30pm AEST – Suncorp Stadium
After going nine matches without a win, the 10th-placed Newcastle Jets finally secured a win last weekend against Sydney FC. They head to Brisbane as underdogs against the Roar, who are also out of finals contention. Each of the past five matches between these sides has gone over the total goals line, so while picking a result is tough, it is easy to back this match to have plenty of scoring.
Over 3.5 goals
Sydney FC vs Western Sydney Wanderers
Saturday, April 13 – 7:45pm AEST – Allianz Stadium
With both sides sitting within five points of the chasing pack, this is a must-win Sydney derby between two teams coming off losses. Sydney FC come in as favourites, but they have just one win from their past five matches. The Wanderers have won their past three matches at Allianz Stadium, and at $4.75 with Neds, they offer great value for the upset.
Western Sydney Wanderers to win
Melbourne City vs Perth Glory
Sunday, April 14 – 3pm AEST – AAMI Park
Sitting just four points outside the finals positions, Melbourne City have an excellent opportunity to put the pressure on as they welcome the last-placed Perth Glory. Despite being winless in their past three matches, City are strong favourites with online bookmakers. While Glory are winless in their past seven games, they have scored more goals than City this season, so add both teams to score for extra value.
