A-League multi betting, free tips and round 10 bookie specials
ADELAIDE fans rejoice, the Reds are finally off the mark after nine rounds of A-League action.
It threatened to be one of the worst title defences in the league’s history – and it still may be – but Adelaide United finally won their first game of the season after recording a hard fought 2-0 win over the Phoenix last week.
The Reds ($18 at Sportsbet.com.au) are still outsiders in the title betting and not considered a factor.
Two teams that are flying on the park and in the title betting market are the first-placed Sydney FC ($4) and the second-placed Melbourne City ($4.50). The duo meet on Friday night and the winner should go clear in the title betting frame.
Oh, and two of the biggest teams in the land – the Wanderers and the Victory – clash at ANZ Stadium on Saturday night too, in case you didn’t think round 10 was enthralling enough.
All odds for the 10th week of the A-League season were provided by Sportsbet.com.au, which is offering punters a fantastic inducement for those yet to sign up.
New customers can get their first bet at Sportsbet matched up to the value of $501.
Selections for the A-League round 11 multi of the week:
Sydney FC to defeat Melbourne City ($2.10)
Melbourne Victory to beat Western Sydney Wanderers ($2.75)
Perth Glory to beat Newcastle Jets ($1.67)
Brisbane Roar to win against Adelaide United ($2)
Combined multi value: $10.29 @ Sportsbet.com.au
Sydney FC vs. Melbourne City
Friday, December 10 from 7.50pm AEDST ANZ Stadium, Sydney
First against second on the ladder kicks off the round this week as Sydney FC host Melbourne City in the NSW capital.
This is the match everyone has been waiting for between the two teams many believe will be playing off against each other for the 2016/17 title in May next year.
The Sky Blues’ unbeaten run extended to nine games last weekend after they swept aside the Jets. It was the kind of professional performance that title runs are built around.
City’s undefeated run in the A-League stretched into a fourth week in the aftermath of its 1-1 draw against the Roar. The FFA champions had to come back from one goal down and in the end were unlucky not to secure all three points.
The last time the teams met, City were victorious in the FFA Cup final, but we’re predicting a different outcome here.
Sydney FC should extend its undefeated run into a tenth week.
Sydney FC to win – $1.87
Western Sydney Wanderers vs. Melbourne Victory
Saturday, December 10 from 7.50 pm AEDST, ANZ Stadium, Sydney
Two teams who are unbeaten over the last three weeks meet in Sydney on Saturday night as the Wanderers host the Victory in an important match for both sides.
The Wanderers got their season back on track last weekend. Western Sydney scored four goals and limited the Mariners to just one in its most impressive win of the season.
The Victory have every right to feel aggrieved after last week. Not only did they have a goal overturned in a dubious off-side call, but a number of fouls in the area were not called.
The teams are separated by just three points on the ladder, but both are at least nine points shy of top-placed Sydney FC – a win has never been more important.
We are favouring the Victory here. The Wanderers are still an unknown quantity and we’re not reading too much into their last win against the Mariners.
Melbourne Victory to win – $2.75
Perth Glory vs. Newcastle Jets
Saturday, December 10 from 10pm AEDST, NIB Stadium, Perth
The late Saturday night game in the A-League sees the Perth Glory hosting the Newcastle Jets in a must-win match for the visitors.
The home side is looking to snap a two game winless streak. Their last outing was a well-earned point against the Victory, but if the Glory are to live up to their title-contending promise, they need to be registering wins when they are ahead in games.
The Jets are in the midst of a mega-slump. Newcastle has not won for six weeks and have just six points to their name to this point of the season.
The Jets need to win now if they are to have any hope of making the finals.
Unfortunately the Glory are formidable at home, which means it will be incredibly difficult for the Jets to get the road win on Saturday night.
Perth Glory to win – $1.67
Brisbane Roar vs. Adelaide United
Sunday, December 11 from 5pm AEDST, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane
The draw-infatuated Roar host the rejuvenated Reds to round out our A-League multi this weekend.
The Roar have gone on a long undefeated run, but they have not registered the full three points in their last four games. One source of optimism for John Aloisi is that his side has scored at least one goal in their last six matches.
After an eight-game winless run, the Reds finally broke through in round 9. A double from former Roar talisman Henrique against the Phoenix delivered the reigning premiers their first full three points of the year.
Unfortunately for the Reds, facing the Roar in Brisbane is a much more daunting prospect than hosting the visiting Kiwis.
The Roar should win comfortably here to round out our A-League multi in style.
Brisbane Roar to win – $2
