A-League Matchweek 16 betting tips, top odds & value picks
Another six matches are scheduled for the busy weekend of A-League action, including a few games which could shape the top end of the table.
Western United currently sit at the top of the 2021/22 A-League standings, but the likes of Melbourne City and Macarthur FC are not far behind them.
Here is a quick look at the upcoming round of A-League action and our best tips with odds provided by Sportsbet.
Brisbane Roar vs Melbourne Victory
Friday, February 25 at 7:55pm AEDT – Moreton Daily Stadium, Brisbane
Brisbane Roar have not had a good season amongst the COVID postponements, but they will start favourite for this contest against Melbourne Victory. The Roar actually managed to pull of a 5-2 win over Melbourne last time they faced off at Moreton Daily Stadium, but we still think the visitors will knock off the bottom-placed side this Friday night.
Melbourne Victory to win
Newcastle Jets vs Macarthur FC
Saturday, February 26 at 5:05pm AEDT – McDonald Jones Stadium, Newcastle
Although the betting odds favour the Jets for this clash, our money lies with Macarthur FC. The Bulls currently sit third in the standings with two games in hand, winning six of their 12 contests including both of their last two outings. Macarthur should notch up their third consecutive victory in the first of Saturday’s triple-header.
Macarthur FC to win
Adelaide United vs Central Coast Mariners
Saturday, February 26 at 7:45pm AEDT – Coopers Stadium, Adelaide
Six matches have come and gone for the Central Coast Mariners and they have not registered a victory in any of them, and we think their form slump will continue in Adelaide. The Reds have plenty to play for, as they sit fourth in the standings and could jump into the top three within the next few weeks. Take the home side for this one as we do not expect a revitalised performance from the Mariners.
Adelaide United to win
Sydney FC vs Melbourne City
Saturday, February 26 at 7:45pm AEDT – Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, Sydney
This clash between Sydney FC and Melbourne City should be the best match of the round, as the two top-end talented squads normally provide close contacts. The two blue squads have been hard to beat this season, especially Melbourne City, who have the best goal differential in the comp at +9. We think Melbourne City will steal a win on the road against Sydney FC this weekend.
Melbourne City to win
Western Sydney Wanderers vs Wellington Phoenix
Sunday, February 27 at 6:45pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium, Sydney
There is not much to like about the Western Sydney Wanderers leading into this contest, whilst Wellington Phoenix are giving us plenty of reasons to back them in. Phoenix have not lost any of their last five matches and won the last contest against the Wanderers at CommBank Stadium. We like the visitors on this occasion with the handicap, but consider them to win outright at $3 as well.
Wellington Pheonix +1
Perth Glory vs Western United
Sunday, February 27 – University of Tasmania Stadium, Launceston
Although Perth Glory were good enough to bounce back against Brisbane Roar last weekend, we do not give them much of a chance against Western United this Sunday. Western United sit at the top of the A-League soccer table for a reason, they are very good at converting wins when they start as favourites, which they have done 100% of the time so far this season.
Western United to win
