A-League betting tips, goalscorer picks & odds | Round 8 preview
The 2024/25 A-League season continues this weekend with six matchups, headlined by a clash between Melbourne City and Auckland FC on Sunday afternoon. Here are our top betting tips for every game of Round 8.
Central Coast Mariners vs Adelaide United
Friday, December 13 – 7:35pm AEDT – Industree Group Stadium
Still undefeated through their first six games, Adelaide United have been stellar form, particularly in attack. Pushing the top of the table, they face an excellent opportunity against an inconsistent Mariners team. Adelaide should be too strong, but given they have kept just one clean sheet this season, add both teams to score for some extra value.

Wellington Phoenix vs Macarthur FC
Saturday, December 14 – 5pm NZDT – Sky Stadium
Despite being the A-League’s highest-scoring team, Macarthur FC have just one win from their last six matches. They face a tough away trip to Wellington, who have won three of their last five and have only lost to the top-placed Auckland this season. At $2.20 with top soccer bookies, Wellington should be too strong.

Sydney FC vs Western United FC
Saturday, December 14 – 5pm AEDT – Allianz Stadium
After a disappointing loss to the Mariners last Sunday, Sydney FC should bounce back against the struggling Western United. In attack, keep an eye out for Sydney striker Patryk Klimala, who has scored seven goals in all competitions — including three in his last three games.

Western Sydney Wanderers vs Brisbane Roar
Saturday, December 14 – 7:35pm AEDT – CommBank Stadium
Following their slow start to the season, the Wanderers have turned their season around, winning two of their last three games. With a chance to push into the top six, they enter as strong favourites against the last-placed Brisbane Roar. With both sides boasting leaky defences, expect this game to have plenty of goals.
Western Sydney Wanderers to win / Both teams to score
Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets
Saturday, December 14 – 6:45pm AWST – HBF Park
This is the most unpredictable match of the weekend. Both the Jets and Glory have scored just four goals this season, with Newcastle’s last score coming over two weeks ago. The sides have drawn each of their last five meetings, so back the tie once again.

Melbourne City vs Auckland FC
Sunday, December 15 – 5pm AEDT – AAMI Park
Despite holding a perfect record at the top of the A-League table, Auckland FC head to Melbourne as the underdogs this week. City sit fourth on the table; however, they have lost both their home games, while their wins have come against the bottom four sides. Auckland are yet to show any weakness, so take them at the value price of $3 with top sports betting sites.
