2022 World Cup betting tips & best odds – Round of 16
The 2022 FIFA World Cup will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday (AEDT) with more round-of-16 battles as the likes of Spain, Brazil, and Portugal take the field. Here are our betting picks for the final four games of the first knockout round in Qatar.
Croatia vs Japan
Japan have been one of the most impressive teams this World Cup, but this is a tough spot for them. Croatia have one of the best midfields in the tournament and they are experienced. Four years ago, the Croats made a run to the final, and while that will be hard to repeat, they have the pieces in place to advance deep into this tournament. Japan have been impressive, but Croatia have too much technical ability for them. Take the favorites at +105 in a game they should control with relative ease.
Croatia to win
Brazil vs South Korea
Richarlison is expected to start up front for the Brazilians and he has been great this tournament. He has scored two goals in his two games, and considering the talent around him, he could double that tally in this game. While Neymar is expected to return from injury for this game, Richarlison will still be a key attacker for Brazil and should be fed opportunities throughout this game. South Korea advancing would make for a great story, but this is Brazil’s game to lose and the Tottenham striker should be very active in front of goal.
Richarlison anytime goalscorer
Spain vs Morocco
Due to the nature of this Spanish squad, Alvaro Morata anytime goalscorer has been one of our favorite bets. And he has delivered. Morata has three goals through three games and has prospered with the creativity playing behind him. Outside of Morata, the Spaniards do not have a lot of finishers, so he is crucial to their gameplan. Spain should be able to create a lot of chances in this game, where they are heavy favourites, so Morata to score is a solid play.
Alvaro Morata anytime goalscorer
Portugal vs Switzerland
We simply aren’t buying this Portugal team. While they played well in patches during the group stage, they showed the defensive inconsistency that makes them hard to trust. Although Switzerland aren’t going to dominate in this battle, they have an experienced team full of veteran players who know how to grind out results. This should be a slow-paced game and we like the Swiss to advance. At +192 with Marantelli Bet, this is a good value bet against an overrated Portuguese side.
Switzerland to advance
