2022 Brownlow Medal odds, favourites & best bets
Brownlow Medal betting is heating up with only one round to go of the 2022 AFL home and away season.
And as is often the case, the medal can be decided in the last round of the season, so punters will be hoping their early selection has a good game to finish off the season.
Or maybe now is the time to have a little flutter before the odds set during the AFL finals?
Brisbane’s Lachie Neale is the current favourite to win his second Brownlow Medal.
Top Brownlow Medal chances in 2022
Lachie Neale
$2.50 at Marantelli Bet
Brisbane’s top midfielder will likely come into even-money favouritism if he can put in a best-on-ground performance on Friday night against the Demons. He will have his work cut out, however, going into battle against Melbourne midfielders Clayton Oliver and Christian Petracca.
Andrew Brayshaw
$5 at Marantelli Bet
The 22-year-old Fremantle midfielder is having a great season, and despite being battered and bruised against West Coast last round, he is sure to back up and collect plenty of disposals again. He has had a record year of achieving ‘one-percenters’ (39) and that may catch the attention of the umpires who give the votes.
Touk Miller
$5 at Marantelli Bet
The Gold Coast ball-magnet is sure to collect many votes, especially in the games the Suns won. We anticipate he will also collect a lot of ones and twos in the games they didn’t win, considering he has been picking up 25-plus touches in nearly every match. The Suns take on last-placed North Melbourne in the final round, and Miller will be expected to pick up votes in what should be a comfortable Gold Coast win.
Clayton Oliver
$5 at Marantelli Bet
Playing on Friday night against the Lions, the Demons’ ball-magnet is always under the umpires’ noses. One concern with betting on Oliver is that a lot of his Melbourne mates will take votes away from him; however, as we know, the Brownlow is a midfielder’s award. Three votes for Oliver in this match could give him a chance to challenge favouritism with Neale.
Patrick Cripps
$7 at Marantelli Bet
Carlton’s captain had a relatively quiet night against the Dees on Friday, so he will need a three-vote performance against the Pies to have any chance of winning the Brownlow. If he does put in a blinder, however, his odds will halve and punters will have received overs at the current quote.
Christian Petracca
$8 at Marantelli Bet
This guy always demands attention with his tough style of play, but one suspects he will need a three-vote performance in the final round to win the Brownlow. Melbourne has a lot of players who will have received plenty of votes throughout the year – mainly Oliver, but also the likes of Steven May and Max Gawn – so he will need to stand out in this one.
