2017 Australian Open Day 2 multi – free tips and bookie specials

Australian Open Day 2 multi
THE Australian Open kicked off on Monday in the glorious Melbourne sunshine, and it looks like we are set for a fantastic fortnight of the best tennis sports fans could ask for.

Today we cast our eye over day two of the Grand Slam tournament, and we are backing in two former major winners to get the job done at inflated odds, while also expecting a pair of veterans on losing streaks to continue their poor run of form.

All odds for round one of the 2017 Australian Open were provided by WilliamHill.com.au, which is continuing its Chase the Ace promotion into the 2017 tournament.

Place a $25 or more head-to-head bet on the 2017 Australian Open Tennis Men’s and Women’s Singles Tournaments and receive up to $10 in Bonus Bets for every ace your player serves.

Selections for the Australian Open Tuesday January 17 multi:

Benoit Paire to defeat Tommy Haas ($1.20)

Serena Williams to beat Belinda Bencic ($1.17)

Sam Stosur to progress past Heather Watson ($1.80)

Feliciano Lopez to defeat Fabio Fognini ($1.80)

Combined multi value: $4.54 @ WilliamHill.com.au

Tommy Haas vs Benoit Paire

Two familiar faces of the ATP tour kick off our day two multi as German fan favourite Tommy Haas faces Frenchman Benoit Paire.

Haas returns to play in his final Australian Open after spending six months out of the game following toe surgery. Haas has not won on the ATP tour since his first round victory over Dusan Lajovic back in 2015.

Paire has made a terrific start to 2017. Despite losing in the opening round of the Sydney International, the world number 27 had a wonderful tournament in Chennai, where he progressed through to the semi-finals.

Haas will be the sentimental favourite heading into the match, but Paire should be able to breeze past the veteran into the second round.

Belinda Bencic vs. Serena Williams

Former world number seven Belinda Bencic faces arguably the greatest women’s tennis player of all-time in the opening round of the Australian Open – Serena Williams.

Williams has never been eliminated in the opening round of the Open in her glittering 22-year career, and the American sounded an ominous warning to her rivals prior to the commencement of the tournament.

“I didn’t come here to lose in the first round, or the second round, or at all,” Williams said.

It is not often in the opening round of a grand slam that Williams is paying over $1.10, but on Tuesday she is and we are happy to snap it up.

Sam Stosur vs. Heather Watson

The golden girl of Australian tennis, Sam Stosur, faces Brit Heather Watson in the third leg of our multi.

The past few months have not been kind to Sam. The former US Open champion has lost seven straight games coming into the second day of the Australian Open and has captured just one set in that time.

Watson, the world number 75, has a recent record that isn’t much better. The 24-year-old has won just three times in her past nine games. In five attempts Watson has only progressed past the first round of the Australian Open once in her career.

Stosur is in the middle of a slump, but placing at her home grand slam against an opponent ranked over 50 positions below her should break her out of the rut. We are happy to take the inflated odds on the Aussie.

Feliciano Lopez vs Fabio Fognini

Arguably the most-intriguing match of the opening Australian Open round awaits tennis fans on the second day of the tournament as Spaniard Feliciano Lopez faces Italian Fabio Fognini in the final leg of our multi.

The world number 28 Lopez withdrew from the Auckland Open just a fortnight ago after progressing through to the round of 16, but the Spaniard looks to be cherry ripe for the first Grand Slam of the year.

Fognini is in the midst of a four-game losing streak where the world number 47 has won zero sets against opponents he was fancied to steam roll.

It does not bode well for a successful summer campaign in Australia for the Italian.

Lopez has never lost to Fognini on the professional circuit and we are expecting that dominant experience to hold him in good stead on Tuesday.

We are backing the world number 28 to bring out multi home in the best way possible.
