BBL odds and betting tips – Sydney Sixers vs. Adelaide Strikers

IT hasn’t taken long for the pressure to hit the Sydney Sixers.

After two defeats to start their 2017/18 campaign, the men in pink sit in sixth position, above the winless Melbourne Stars and Hobart Hurricanes.

Can they put a mark in the win column when they host the Adelaide Strikers on Thursday night?

The bookmakers say yes.

The Sixers start as the favourites, despite the Strikers’ superior form coming into the match. The men from Adelaide comprehensively put away the Sydney Thunder when opening their season last week and will look to repeat the dosage here.

We’re expecting a close one here – neither team has superstar power, but both will be absolutely desperate for a win heading into 2018.

After starting the season in fine form with a well-compiled 36 in the opening match, Strikers number three Travis Head will be looking to build on that work in this match.

He’s not the biggest hitter of the ball, but Head shoulders a lot of the responsibility in this batting line up and is capable of building big innings.

Head is capable of clearing the boundary (he did hit one six in his last innings), but expect him to go at a strike rate of just over 130.

The odds for Head to win the Man of the Match award make for interesting reading. While Sportsbet seem to be aware of his ability, pricing him at $5.50, CrownBet and WilliamHill are being more generous, pricing him at a juicy $10 to dominate the match.

If Head top scores in a Strikers win, this provides some huge value.

Betting predictions for Sixers vs. Strikers

After a brave effort last season, the Sixers have started off 2017/18 on the rough end of some close matches.
