TOP four contenders Port Adelaide Power and the Geelong Cats will lock horns at Adelaide Oval on Saturday night in one of the matches of the week.

Both teams find themselves inside the eight after the first four rounds of the season, but have significant weaknesses and vulnerabilities to work on if they’re to be true contenders.

After the first three weeks of the season Port Adelaide was the only unbeaten team, sitting on top of the ladder, but last week’s meek showing against Essendon dropped them five positions on the ladder.

Recruiting quality senior players was the main focus for both clubs in the off-season, but how are those recruits fairing so far?

Tom Rockliff moved from Brisbane to the Power and many expected him to impact immediately. Unfortunately for the Power, Rockliff has been the most anticlimactic big recruit of recent times, averaging just 12 disposals.

Geelong may have recruited the illustrious Gary Ablett Jr, who was fantastic in his opening three matches, but after a hamstring injury, questions have been asked about his durability.

On a brighter note, Tim Kelly for the cats, and Riley Bonner for the Power, haven’t missed a beat since securing a place in the best 22 of their respective teams.

Tim Kelly has become a shining light at the cattery, averaging a goal per game and seriously impacting each match.

Riley Bonner received the round one rising star award and hasn’t taken a backward step since. Bonner’s brilliant left foot has changed the way Port move the football due to how dangerous Bonner can be on the offensive end.

Port Adelaide are at the opposite end of the spectrum and will not allow Geelong to score when they want to. With injuries crippling many of their better players, Geelong will struggle to top 82 points.

Some critics would consider Wingard the best player in the Power forward line. As a dynamic medium forward, Chad finds himself in all the right places when the ball enters his area. If the Power are going to build some percentage in this match, expect Wingard to fire from the opening bounce.

As the best player across both teams, Dangerfield will need to play one of his better games if Geelong want any chance of winning. Danger still possesses all the best qualities of the modern footballer, 30 disposals will come if he plays the full four quarters at his amazing standard.
