To kick off the Saturday matches for the third week of the JLT pre-season, the Magpies will host the Bulldogs in Moe.

The two combatants had very different outcomes in their previous matches.

Collingwood were no more than obstacles to the Giants in a 60-point defeat, while the Western Bulldogs played the new-look Hawks and showed signs of recapturing their 2016 form with a solid 22-point win.

The Magpies will look to bounce back this week after last week’s disaster. Coach Nathan Buckley has made a few important changes that should strengthen the Pies immensely. With senior players returning and fringe players desperate to play in round one, we’re expecting a more desperate outfit.

The Bulldogs did little wrong last week. Their young players looked good, especially Aaron Naughton, who played on multiple star forwards, including Jarryd Roughead and Jack Gunston.
