THE white-hot Melbourne Storm host the last team to beat them in 2017 in the form of the Parramatta Eels.
Melbourne are the justified $1.90 premiership favourites at Sportsbet.com.au. After dismantling the Canberra Raiders in the final round of the season to extend their winning streak to seven, the Storm look unstoppable.
Will Parramatta’s round-15 win over Melbourne give them the mental edge heading into Saturday?
While the Eels have the bragging rights over the Storm they are hardly bringing their A-game into the first final.
The blue and golds put in a poor performance against South Sydney in the final round of the season and will need to vastly improve to be any chance of an upset here.
Semi Radradra betting specials
- First try scorer – $10 at William Hill
- Anytime try scorer – $2.25 at William Hill
- Radradra to score and the Eels to win – $10 at Ladbrokes
Is there a man in better form right now than Semi Radradra?
The soon to be ex-Eel has been in sensational touch to end the season, scoring an incredible seven tries from his last two games – four of which came against one of the premiership fancies, the Brisbane Broncos.
For the Eels to stand any chance the Semi Trailer will need to have a huge impact. The odds on Radradra to score at anytime ($2.25 at WilliamHill.com.au) are especially enticing given his recent record, which we suggest as the best Eels bet of the afternoon.
Suliasi Vunivalu tryscorer odds
- First try scorer – $6.50 at William Hill
- Anytime try scorer – $1.53 at William Hill
- Vunivalu to score a try and Melbourne to win – $1.80 at William Hill
Storm speedster Suliasi Vunivalu is looking to continue a stellar 2017 that has seen him end the regular season as the NRL’s leading tryscorer.
In an incredible record of consistency for the Fijian flyer, Vunivalu has scored a try in four of his last five NRL matches. The only failure to cross the chalk came against the Roosters in a dour, low-scoring affair in horror conditions at AAMI Park.
Vunivalu scoring tries and the Storm winning has become a formality over the last month, and who are we to oppose that? William Hill’s offer of $1.80 for Vunivalu to score and the Storm to win looks to be one of the better bets of the weekend.

Melbourne vs. Parramatta match tip
Can Parra again stun the Storm, or will the premiership favourites maintain their brilliant run of form?
While it is true that the Eels were the last team to defeat the minor premiers, they did so with Cameron Smith, Cooper Cronk, Billy Slater, Will Chambers, Tim Glasby and Cameron Munster out of action.
Not many teams could cope with that many omissions. All of these men will suit up on Saturday, which makes it extremely hard to tip against the home side.
Bevan French is also a confirmed out for the Eels, which strips the visitors of a match-winning talent.
Unless Radradra can make it a hat-trick of three tries or more in a game we just do not see how Parramatta can overcome the Storm. The southern giants are too strong in every facet of the game and should prove far too savvy for their plucky opponents.
Melbourne Storm to win by 13+ points – $1.91 at CrownBet.com.au
