Brisbane: -8.5 at $1.88 with William Hill
Parramatta: +9.5 at $1.91 with Ladbrokes

THE Broncos will be hoping to avoid losing twice to the Eels in five weeks when they face them this Thursday night at Suncorp Stadium.

The two sides met in round 21, when the Eels won 28-14 at home to establish themselves as a potential top-four team. That’s what is on the line this week for Parra, who could move into equal second position with a win.

Standing in their way are the Broncos, who have rebounded from that loss with three consecutive wins. A 54-0 thrashing of the Titans was followed by a convincing 32-10 victory over Cronulla Sharks.

There were glimpses of good and bad last week against the Dragons, but the win was comfortable enough and kept them second on the NRL ladder.

It appears as though Melbourne Storm have run away with the minor premiership, but the Broncos could pile on the pressure with a win. That will be no easy task against an Eels side that has enjoyed some success over Brisbane in the past (18 wins from 37 games).

This will be the most exciting Thursday night game of the season so far. With the amount of attacking ability on display, we thought we’d look at the try-scoring options in what should be a shootout.

The Broncos side is stacked with try-scoring ability, especially now that Corey Oates has found some touch.

The Queensland representative struggled with form and fitness throughout the middle stages of the competition, but there is no denying his class and his attitude.

Oates is the current favourite of either side to score during the match at -138.89 with Sportsbet.com.au and given how many opportunities the outside backs get for the Broncos, it looks like a good betting play.

Hot on his heels in the betting is noted speedster James Roberts, who is starting to look like the talent that shone so brightly with the Gold Coast Titans.

Roberts has flat out speed, but he will need to be firing at all cylinders to get past the likes of Bevan French and Semi Radradra is defence. He has been in good try-scoring form in the latter stages of this season and the $1.83 quote to score at anytime represents some good value.

Look for Roberts to strike just before the half when the opposition defence is tiring.

One player who we have been impressed with this season is Tautau Moga, who is paying good odds to score this Thursday night.

Moga has strengthened up nicely this season and will become even better with more experience. He’s just the type of player that could crash through the defence at any time and we’ll happily take the +163 when it is available.

He is also a good chance to score first, which pays +1400.

The Eels don’t have nearly as much depth as the Broncos, but they have some pretty special outside backs that are setting the try-scoring ranks alight.

Semi Radradra is showing no signs of slowing down this season and we’re very surprised at the odds available for the Fijian winger.

Despite scoring with ease this season, Radradra is currently +100 to score during the game and we’re expecting NRL punters to include that in their multi-bets this weekend.

Bevan French is also one of the most proficient try-scorers this season and again bookmakers are offering good value odds.

French is one of the quickest players in the competition and his ability to play both winger and fullback is what makes him such a high-valued prospect.

He should be able to cross for a try and the +180 on offer at Sportsbet is worth snapping up.

Broncos vs. Eels game tip

The Broncos’ depth is what makes them so hard to beat, which is why we are favouring the home side this Thursday.

The Eels have the ability to beat any team on any given night, but this is a Broncos outfit that has eyes on the big prize and will be looking for revenge against Parra.

The points spread line is currently -9.5, but we think the value is with Sportsbet’s Big Win Little Win option.

Take Broncos 1-12 at +210 in what should be an enthralling contest between two quality sides.
