THE Melbourne Renegades can take some solace from their defeat to the Perth Scorchers last Friday.
Now they know the standard required to win the T20 Big Bash League.
The ‘Gades were ripped to shreds by Mitchell Johnson and Andrew Tye in a clash that could foreshadow a finals showdown.
But they have had no trouble dispatching lesser opposition, which bodes ill for the Sydney Sixers.
The men in pink looked to have it won at the WACA on Monday night until two disastrous overs from Sean Abbott handed victory to the Scorchers.
That display summed up a horror start that has seen the Sixers lose four games out of four.
They can all but wave goodbye to any hopes of playing finals if they lose again on Wednesday night in Geelong.

Cameron White has started the season like a house on fire.
The Victorian veteran smashed an unbeaten 79 against Hobart and backed it up with 51 in the win over Brisbane.
He is the form bat in a talented lineup that expects to go all the way this season.
After a miss against the Scorchers, look for White to bounce back with another big knock.
Renegades vs. Sixers match predictions
- Melbourne Renegades to win – -175.44 at William Hill
- Dwayne Bravo top bowler – +225 at Neds
Have the Sixers forgotten how to win?
There were times on Monday night when it looked as though there was no instinct about their play.
It does not help that last season’s top wicket-taker, Abbott, is having an absolute shocker.
Something needs to change if they are to down a talented Renegades outfit that looks destined for finals.
The frightening thing for the rest of the competition is that Aaron Finch hasn’t even got out of the blocks yet.
BBL veterans Dwayne Bravo and Brad Hogg are bowling well, as is Afghani recruit Mohammed Nabi.
Get on the ‘Gades to claim their third win of the season.
