Collingwood will aim to extend its winning streak to three and stay inside the top eight when it hosts the Fremantle Dockers at the MCG on Sunday.

So far in 2018 you would say the Pies have played better football, but don’t take anything away from the Dockers’ early-season form, considering their injuries and all the external noise surrounding the club.

The expectations on Fremantle were not very high at the beginning of the season. The Dockers were a disappointment in 2017 and failed to recruit any big names over the trade period. The return of captain Nat Fyfe to full fitness and his Brownlow Medal form and a number of kids pulling their weight has given reason for optimism.

Collingwood has unearthed a few stars this season and will debut another new recruit on Sunday. Brody Mihocek is a mature aged rookie from the VFL premiers, Port Melbourne. With full intention of playing Brody as a defender, the tables have turned. Mihocek spent the last fortnight playing forward in the VFL and after doing so well Brody was lucky enough to receive the call up to replace Ben Reid, who is out with a leg injury.

Injury woes have struck both sides as the Pies lose Travis Varcoe (Hamstring), Ben Reid (Leg) and Jeremy Howe with bone bruising in his knee. Fremantle has a similar problem as they will play without Stephen Hill and Aaron Sandilands. Hill will miss with a quad while Sandilands is still recuperating from the concussion he suffered last week.
