Sunday, 24th June, 3:20 pm AEST, 2018, MCG, Watch on the Fox Footy Network.

Old rivals Collingwood and Carlton meet again at the MCG this Sunday for the second time this season.

Collingwood triumphed in the first encounter and have continued on with the good form since, while Carlton has endured one of the worst seasons in the history of the football club.

Carlton sit at the bottom of the ladder and struggle each week to simply compete. Many Blues’ fans are losing hope in their never-ending rebuild and those fears were compounded last week when fellow cellar-dweller Fremantle dismantled the Blues by 57 points.

Collingwood has shot up in almost every market since beating the Demons comfortably on the Queen’s Birthday. Sitting fourth in the premiership betting tied with Geelong, the Pies are in a good place entering the second half of the season.

Not many changes will be made for either side in this clash. Collingwood need to bring in some pace to replace the injured Daniel Wells, who suffered a season-ending foot injury last week.

Carlton also has one injury, Sam Kerridge, who misses with a yet to be specified injury. The Blues have bought in Cameron Polson, a young small defender who has great kicking skills. Changes are yet to be finalised as the extended bench is in play until Friday afternoon.

Bookmakers are giving Carlton Buckley’s chance to win this match, but we will still find value within the encounter.

Here are our tips for this match between old rivals Collingwood and Carlton.

Collingwood Magpies vs. Carlton Blues Round 14 – First Goal Scorer Tips

Jaidyn Stephenson @ $11.00 with CrownBet

If draft night came around again for every club and they had a chance to re-draft the 2017 class, Jaidyn Stephenson would have to be the number one selection. No other rookie has been able to impact his side as significantly as Jaidyn. Last week Stephenson had three shots on goal in the first quarter, which we could see happening again if he is isolated in the goal square for the second match in a row.

Charlie Curnow @ $10.00 with CrownBet

The shining light in the Blues line up is Charlie Curnow. Charlie recently signed a long-term deal, tying him to the Blues until 2023. With the weight of trade whispers off Charlie’s shoulders, he’ll play with more freedom and could make an impact here. We think if Jaidyn doesn’t kick the first goal, Charlie will be a good second option.

Collingwood Magpies vs. Carlton Blues Round 14 – Total Points Tips

Collingwood Magpies 103.5 Over/Under

Over @ $1.88 with Ladbrokes

In the last two matches the Pies have played, they average 136-points — a very healthy total. The Woods will bring this form into the match against the Blues and look to expose the young Carlton defenders. As Mason Cox hits a form-peak, so does the Magpies forward line as a whole, meaning they will easily be able to kick a massive score against the Blues.

Carlton Blues 56.5 Over/Under

Over @ $1.85 with Ladbrokes

Unfortunately for the Blues, kicking goals has been one of the hardest parts of their game. When they come up against Matthew Scharenburg and Jeremy Howe, their fall forwards might struggle to keep up with the class of the Magpies. Until the Blues can sort out their issues and play with real intensity, it will be hard to see them scratch together a respectable score.

Collingwood Magpies vs. Carlton Blues Round 14 – Most Disposals into Most Goals Tip

Tom Phillips / Jordan de Goey @ $26.00 with Sportsbet

Tom Phillips was tagged in the Queen’s Birthday clash and still managed 19 touches. Since Treloar and Sidebottom are having a massive month of football, the Blues will need to tag those players, leaving room for Phillips to dominate the wings. Jordan de Goey has the capacity to tear Carlton apart and completely own this game of footy. No player for Carlton can match de Goey’s combination of power, speed and class. We see these players tallying the most goals and disposals in this match.

Magpies vs. Blues Match Predictions

Match Result: Collingwood Magpies to win @ $1.07 with William Hill
Line Betting: Collingwood -46.5 @ $1.91 with William Hill

The Pies will win this match and continue their run at finals. Carlton just aren’t good enough to keep up with how well the Pies are playing at the moment. Pies by over eight goals.
