HOW the fortunes of the Sydney Roosters have changed over the course of a year.

This time last year, the Roosters were having off-field troubles that threatened to spiral the club out of control.

Fast forward 365 days and the Roosters are back on top.

Sydney has remained perfect this season after three wins from three games, albeit after a fortunate win against the Penrith Panthers on Saturday night.

A suspect forward pass led to a try, which ultimately gave the Roosters the win and despite the controversy, the Roosters put themselves in a position to snatch the victory and continue the roll.

The roll could continue this Thursday night when the Roosters come up against the South Rabbitohs, which are in some form of their own.

Following a disappointing loss on round one to the Wests Tigers, the Rabbitohs have bounced back to score wins over the enigmatic Sea Eagles and the Knights.

Not the strongest opposition, but there are positives going forward for the Rabbitohs and punters are getting some good value this Thursday night.

The Roosters have a wealth of attacking ability and that gets first try-scoring punters very excited.

Latrell Mitchell is one of the rising stars in the NRL and we believe he’s at great value to score first against the Rabbitohs.

He’s a young talent who hit top form against the Panthers and he should enjoy the expansive type of football we’re likely to see this Thursday night.

The try-scoring threats are limited for the Rabbitohs, but there’s two players which could make an impact on Thursday.

Bryson Goodwin tops the list and with good reason. He’s a winger that receives plenty of try scoring opportunities from the halves and he could expose the wing defense of the Roosters.

Look for Goodwin to target the defense of Shaun Kenny-Dowall, who can be exposed on the wing. Goodwin isn’t currently $12 with Sportsbet and he looks the best chance for the Rabbitohs.

We’re going left-field with our next pick as we believe he needs to start stepping up. There’s no denying the talent of Sam Burgess, but he’s better with the ball in hand than most give him credit for.

While he does make some errors trying to offload, we want to see “Big Sammy” run it up the middle when he’s close to the line.

The Brit has a fair amount of toughness and grit, so seeing Sam Burgess crash over the line at try-scoring odds of $4.50 would please us.

Rabbitohs vs. Roosters game prediction

The Roosters have the historical advantage over the Rabbitohs. They have won 22 of 33 games between the two clubs, which included a 17-10 victory last time they met.

Both teams are in good form, but the Roosters should simply have too many guns for their cross-town rivals.

The $1.40 in the head-to-head market is on the short side, but punters should lock in that price while it’s available. We’re expecting most of the money to come for the popular side which is looking to remain unbeaten this season.
