Richmond Tigers: Loss to Adelaide, 118-82
Hawthorn Hawks: Win over Geelong, 117-118

Sunday, 8th April, 1.10 pm AEST, 2018, MCG, watch on Fox Footy.

The two biggest clubs in Victoria face off for a Sunday blockbuster at the MCG.

Richmond and Hawthorn are expected to attract more than 80,000 people in what looks on paper as the match of the week.

Richmond, the reigning premiers and an unbeaten Hawthorn on the march — what more could you ask for?

The Tigers failed to defeat the Crows in Adelaide last week. Hardwick’s men could not repeat their 2017 Grand Final form and a lacklustre performance from the whole group would have some alarm bells ringing around Punt Road coming into this clash.

Hawthorn has started its season beautifully. Tom Mitchell was the shining light in another best on ground performance in a one-point win over Geelong in Round 2. The midfield was clicking and for the second week in a row, the Hawthorn forward line took advantage of an undermanned backline.

A suspension to Josh Caddy will hurt the Tigers more than they might have initially realised. Shaun Burgoyne’s injury worries for Hawthorn could off-set that loss. Both clubs enter the game with even match-ups across the field, but the question is, who will shine the brightest at the MCG this Sunday?

With plenty of markets to analyse, here’s some tips we think could go our way.

Richmond Tigers vs. Hawthorn Hawks Round 3 – Total Goals tips

Richmond Tigers

13.5 Over/Under – Over @ $1.76 with Sportsbet

In a scrappy game against the Crows in Adelaide, which they lost by six goals, the Tigers still managed to kick 12.10. Dusty did kick five by himself, but we expect the yellow and black to find themselves kicking 14 goals win, lose or draw. Tiger forward Jack Riewoldt will have a much better game and boost his impact on the scoreboard.

Hawthorn Hawks

12.5 Over/Under – Over @ $1.87 with Sportsbet

Against one of the best defensive sides in the competition, the Hawks had 33 scoring shots for 17.16. Straighten up the kicking and they don’t even have to have as many scoring opportunities to kick 13 goals. The Hawks’ highest goal-kicker had only two majors for the match, highlighting the dynamic spread of scorers the club has in its arsenal.

Richmond Tigers vs. Hawthorn Hawks Round 3 – Superstar Special @ William Hill

Richmond Tigers

Dustin Martin has 30 + disposals, 1 goal, 5 + Tackles & 5 + marks @ $7.50

William Hill have kindly supplied this football match with a Superstar special. The player needs to be best afield in the match by acquiring the given statistics above. Dustin Martin had to move forward last week to keep Richmond in the match. More time in the midfield suits the matchup with the Hawks, providing him with more opportunities to get touches. The 30 disposals is the only worry, but Dusty can do it all and $7.50 is value.

Hawthorn Hawks

Tom Mitchell has 30 + disposals, 1 goal, 5 + Tackles & 5 + marks @ $5.00

A more contested game last week saw Mitchell getting more inside touches and chipped in with two big goals to boot. While Mitchell will need to find himself in more space to rack up five marks, the 30 touches is a moral and the $5 is real value – whether he is heavily-tagged or not.

Richmond vs. Hawthorn match predictions

Match Result: Richmond to win @ $1.65 with CrownBet
Line Betting: Hawthorn + 7.5 @ $1.92 with CrownBet

In what looks to be a very close match between two strong teams, we think Richmond has the better chance of winning, but not by much. We’re expecting a thriller in front of a huge crowd.
