The Western Bulldogs will host the North Melbourne Kangaroos under the Etihad Stadium roof this Saturday night in an important match that could help shape the top eight.
The freezing wind and cold will not play a factor under the closed roof, providing an opportunity for a high-scoring affair.
After losing four-straight matches, the Bulldogs are officially out of the finals race. The club has been completely ravaged by injuries to the most critical players in the squad. Last round Captain Eastern Wood pinged his hamstring terribly and in-form midfielder Jack MaCrae also suffered a less-severe hamstring injury. Midfield stars Toby McClean and Marcus Bontempelli are also in doubt after shoulder and knee injuries respectively, both are subject to a test during the week to prove their fitness to the Bulldogs’ medical team.
North Melbourne continue to impress, even in the matches they lose. Last time the Roos played was back in round 12 when they lost to Geelong after putting up a valiant fight for the first three quarters of the match. The Roos are pushing to solidify a position within the top eight and winning this match would give North breathing room ahead of its competitors.
In anticipation of this match, we analysed each market and decided there was plenty of punts to be won. Here are our tips for the Bulldogs-Kangaroos match-up.

Western Bulldogs vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos Round 14 – Race to Tips
Race to 5 Goals
North Melbourne Kangaroos @ $1.40 with Ladbrokes
When taking this market into account, we’ve taken a look at recent form. North Melbourne clearly possesses a better forward-line than the crippled Western Bulldogs at this point in the season. If the Bulldogs still had Tory Dickson, Jack Redpath, Tom Liberatore, Tom Boyd, Liam Picken and Clay Smith we might have given them a chance, but this make-shift forward line does not show any signs of scoring a winning score at any stage.
Race to 5 Behinds
Western Bulldogs @ $2.70 with Ladbrokes
Once again, we went to the goal accuracy category and decided that the Bulldogs were easily going to be first to five behinds in this match. The odds are heavily-stacked against the Doggies, but that won’t stop us from placing this bet. North Melbourne are in the top end of the accuracy table, whilst the Bulldogs sit at the very bottom.
Western Bulldogs vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos Round 14 – Total Points Tips
Western Bulldogs 70.5 Over/Under
Under @ $1.83 with CrownBet
The North Melbourne back six were heralded as one of the best defences in the league before the loss to the Cats. The Bulldogs are unable to kick goals against a poor defence, so those problems could be compounded this week. Robbie Tarrant and Scott Thompson are in All Australian talks according to some media outlets, and they deserve the recognition.
North Melbourne Kangaroos 100.5 Over/Under
Ben Brown. Not much else needs to be said.
The Kangaroos have one of the finest inside 50 conversion rates in the comp, meaning they more likely to score from their forward entries, especially against an under-manned Dogs’ backline. The Roos have kicked over 100-points three times this season, and we believe they will do it for a fourth time this week.
Western Bulldogs vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos Round 14 – Margin Tips
North Melbourne Kangaroos to win by 25+ points @ $1.64 with William Hill
Ultimately, Brad Scott has coached the Kangaroos very well this season and they will understand the significance of percentage this time of the year, meaning they will not be going for a win, but for a percentage boost. The Roos have one of the better percentages in the competition, but it is not high enough to make a difference yet. The Roos will be out for blood this Saturday night.
Bulldogs vs. Kangaroos Match Predictions
Match Result: North Melbourne Kangaroos to win @ $1.20 with Sportsbet
Line Betting: North Melbourne Kangaroos -32.5 @ $1.92 with Sportsbet
This should be a clean sweep in the tipping this round and this match is one of the easiest winners to choose. Take the line with caution because the Bulldogs have surprised us before, but the win is a safer option for less.
