Thursday, 21 June, 8:10 pm AEST, 2018, Optus Stadium, Watch on the Seven Network and on the Fox Footy Network.
The West Coast Eagles will host the Essendon Bombers at Optus Stadium, kicking off Round 14 with another Thursday night match.
The Eagles’ winning-streak was finally broken last week after winning 11 matches consecutively, losing to the same team that beat them in round one, the Swans.
Essendon enjoyed its bye week after a win over Brisbane in Round 12, recharging the batteries for this all-important match.
While teams coming off the bye so far this year have struggled in their first week back in action, Essendon will have welcomed the break to rest some injured bodies. Sitting 13th on the ladder, an unlikely win here could keep their fleeting finals hopes alive.
After having its winning streak broken last week, the Eagles dropped in premiership betting behind the Swans ($6.50 and $5.50). Adam Simpson’s men will want to maintain their top-two position and start a new streak, starting Thursday.
Remember these tips that could reward you with some cash for the weekend.
West Coast Eagles vs. Essendon Bombers Round 14 – Total Goals Tips
West Coast Eagles 13.5 Over/Under
The Eagles are a very competent side when it comes to scoring goals. Even without gun forward Jack Darling, we still see West Coast easily scoring over 13.5 goals. Liam Ryan is a goal scoring machine, alongside the special talent Willie Rioli and young key forward position Jake Waterman, the future looks spectacular for the Eagles. Right now the Coasters have the best lead up forward in the game, Josh Kennedy, who loves to kick goals from time-to-time. Combining the midfield confidence with the talent inside 50, the Eagles are capable of putting any side away.
Essendon Bombers 8.5 Over/Under
Under @ $1.84 with Sportsbet
With the underrated West Coast backline continuing to make scoring a challenge for visiting teams at Optus Stadium, coupled with Essendon’s own woes in front of goal, we think 9 goals could be a big ask for the Bombers.
West Coast Eagles vs. Essendon Bombers Round 14 – Race to Tips
Race to 3 Goals
West Coast Eagles @ $1.38 with Ladbrokes
The value is here to be taken and we have gone for it. The Eagles love getting on a roll early and will be obliged to do so this week. The Bombers have been fast starters in the past, but we can’t say they will be able to reciprocate previous form in this match. The Eagles will be the first to three goals in this match, doing so with ease.
Race to 50 points
West Coast Eagles @ $1.20 with Ladbrokes
The odds are short and we do not mind as it’s a very easy punt to put our money towards. The Bombers will be lucky to score 50 points for the entire match, let alone be the first side to score the half century. Without the likes of David Zaharakis (shoulder) Darcy Parish (thumb) and Joe Daniher (groin), the Dons will not be at their best in round 14.
West Coast Eagles vs. Essendon Bombers Round 14 – Player Specials Tips
Liam Ryan to kick 3+ goals @ $2.90 with William Hill
Flyin’ Ryan was very quiet in his first match back since the serious ankle injury he sustained in round three. Liam has yet to explode on the scene and do what he is fully capable of, which we think he may bring to the table this week. Not only will be see plenty of goals, we also think Ryan will take one of the marks of the year, which will bring confidence to Liam and boost his form to new heights.
Eagles vs. Bombers Match Predictions
Match Result: West Coast Eagles to win @ $1.18 with CrownBet
Line Betting: West Coast Eagles -31.5 @ $1.92 with CrownBet
We are predicting a fairly large beating in favour of the Eagles. West Coast seems to contain better personnel and plays well on its home deck, while the Bombers will be sloppy coming off the bye.
