A loss at this stage of the season can ultimately determine a team’s fate, but Parramtta’s loss to the Knights last week might have been a blessing in disguise.

The Eels were flying with three consecutive wins following a bye in round 19, but a horrible defeat to Newcastle has threatened to see them slide down the rankings.

Losing 10-29 to the last-placed Knights looks like a poor result, and it was, but it might be just the shot in the arm the Eels need as the playoffs approach.

Sitting comfortably with 13 wins this season, Parra won’t take the Titans lightly this Thursday night despite a run of bad form for the Queensland-based franchise.

Gold Coast were positioned well enough after beating the Sharks in round 19, but four straight losses have eliminated them from the playoff race.

After losing 24-16 to the Panthers, the Titans lost by 22 against the Tigers, 54 against the Broncos and 26 against the Dragons.

That is horrific form, to put it nicely, so a good showing this Thursday night would be a welcome sight for the struggling club.

Parramatta Eels try scorer tips

The Eels side is packed with try-scoring talent and punters are having a field day backing the favourites.

Parra managed only 10 points against the Knights, so expect them to come out firing on all cylinders this week.

We think big Semi Radradra is the way to go for first try-scorer options. The Fijian flyer might have had some off-field troubles this year, but his form on the park has been stellar.

Radradra not only scores tries on a regular basis, but he also does a power of work bringing the ball off the line and he should be considered as one of the standout performers of the season.

Punters will see the +550 and think that’s short for this market, but Radradra is a try-scoring freak and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him cross for an early four-pointer. He’s also paying -250 to score at any time, which is a good multi-bet builder.

Mitchell Moses has become the player many thought he could be for the Eels. The former Tiger has steadily improved his game throughout the season and we think he could be rewarded with a four-pointer of his own.

Not noted for his try-scoring ability, Moses is often the one setting them up, but he could exploit a weak Titans defence this Thursday and it is a game where plenty of points should be scored.

Moses is currently +260 at Sportsbet.com.au to score at any time and that’s great value.

It is time for Jarryd Hayne to stand up and take ownership of this team. He has been under fire from management, but the former NFL kick returner could turn around his form to close the season.

The Titans need Hayne to be at his best this Thursday night and what better way to start than by scoring first. Hayne isn’t a noted try-scorer, but the +1600 at Sportsbet represents value and it could certainly set the game up nicely if he was to cross first.

For the safer punters, Hayne is currently +188 to score at any time and we’re expecting bookmakers to take good action on that option.

Another good option is Kane Elgey. He will be out to impress in the latter stages of the season and prospective coaches often look to players like Elgey for a late-season push.

He is worth a dabble at +350 with Sportsbet.

Eels vs. Titans game tip

The Eels should right their wrongs from last week and pile the points on a struggling Gold Coast Titans team.

The Titans have been finding it tough to score and coming up against a physical forward pack will be a daunting task.

If Jarryd Hayne can score early in the game then it might change things, but we are predicting an easy 10-20 point win for the Eels as they into the finals.
