Miss Sara purchase the worth extra money

Trainer Les Ross believes tough filly Miss Sara is the best extra $2000 he has ever spent after her runaway win at Doomben on Wednesday.

Miss Sara ($3) bolted in by four lengths in a Class 1 Plate (2200m) and will back up on Monday at Beaudesert over 2400m.

The filly cost $12,000 at the Magic Millions March Sales but Ross had intended not to go past $10,000.

“The bloke I had bidding for me went one bid further than I intended and then I syndicated her and one dropped out leaving me holding 25 per cent,” Ross said.

“She has won about $180,000 in prize money and bonus payments so I am not too worried about the extra $2000 now.”

“She is a tough little thing and she can back up on Monday at Beaudesert as it isn’t the hardest of races.”

Miss Sara showed the benefit of the recent Eagle Way Three-Year-Old Stayers series with her easy win.

She came through the series which is designed to get trainers to try their early to mid-season three year olds as stayers.

The filly, who was third in one of the heats and just behind the placegetters in the final, is bred to be a sprinter but it was an incentive for trainer Les Ross to try her over ground.

Stable “weirdo” Meet Mr Taylor ($2.20) made it four wins from four starts in class record time in the Class 3 Plate (1110m).

Trainer Kelly Schweida scratched him from an Eagle Farm race last Saturday because of a wide barrier but Meet Mr Taylor will now head to another Saturday Eagle Farm race next week.

“This horse is a real weirdo. Whenever another horse comes near him he just takes off. But he sure can gallop,” Schweida said.
